Angel's
Story
Update
12/25/09
From a medical standpoint,
Angel is doing great! Her perfect forever home would include another
dog(s) or kittty cats...she loves little dogs and cats. The home would
also include a loving family with patience and lots of kisses to give
her. Angel does shake and bob her head when there's a commotion or
she gets scared. She also loves children. Angel will do best in a
calmer home with with an older child or maybe two!

No, I’m not laying on my
stuffed toys. Those are my babies…really, they are. Let me tell you
my story and you’ll understand. See, I lived most of my life in a
cramped cage and was used as a breeding machine. You can tell from
the large skin tags that hang from my elbows. I was “disposed of”
at animal control. Lucky for me the nice people at animal control
called FBR. They picked me up (literally), I was so scared, I had
to be wheeled to the car. When I got to the vet, they had never seen
such a traumatized animal. They thought I had this thing called a
brain tumor or I may have had a stroke. I showed no emotion, no licks,
no nub wags…nothing. After a week at the vet, it was decided I should
go to my foster home to see if I could make any progress.
Boy did I get lucky. My foster mom, dad, and fur brother helped me
see a whole other side of life. Nobody thinks I am the same dog that
came into rescue several weeks ago. The vet now thinks I may have
suffered head trauma at the hands of my former “captors.” As a result,
I’m not as quick on my feet and am what my foster mom calls “laid
back.” But I'm still all Boxer! My brother Tank taught be to box and
play!!! Nope, I’m not the same dog. Everything’s changed…well almost.
The one thing that hasn’t changed are my babies. See I was taken from
them too soon so I‘ve found some new “stuffed” babies to take their
place. That’s them in the picture. I’m protecting them. I count them
with my nose at night and gently pick them up to take them with me
wherever I go. I think it’s sweet…and a little sad. I still have to
have surgery to remove those big skin tags on my elbows and I have
some heartworms too. Can you help Boxer Rescue with the rest of my
treatments? They say I’m a good girl. No one ever told me that before.
Love, Angel
Although
Angel's story is sad, her future is bright! FBR's love and care is
free, but, unfortunately, Angel's medical care comes with a high price.
We would appreciate donations of any amount to help pay for her care!
