I think Izaak which means "laughter" in German, is going to live up to his name. In the short time I've known him he has been happy to greet everyone he meets (human & dog) with a great Kidney Bean Dance. His little nub wags so hard his whole body can't help but follow. Izaak will be working on his basics while at his foster home and I'm sure he will be a star pupil. Check back for an update soon.

Ava is a playful and very social Boxer. She loves her foster brother and sister and was surrendered by a family with 3 small children. She loves to go outside with you and explore. She needs to go to a family with another active dog who loves to play to burn off some Boxer energy. She is ready to go and is looking for her forever home.

Comments from foster home:
Oscar has been in his foster home less than a week, and is settling in nicely. He is a very loving dog and is taking full
advantage of being spoiled as he is the only pet in the home. He is great around older children, but because he was pulled from a shelter, we are uncertain about his behavior around young children and other animals. He is warming up
to the crate and is receptive to obedience training. Oscar is very eager to complete his heart worm treatment so he can run and play.

Comments from foster home: Karly, which means "womanly strength" in German, is actually kind of opposite of her temperament. She is a very petite, sweet, submissive girl. She seems to be a quick study. It only took about an hour and she was already responding to her name and coming when called. Of course, Karly is just a pup and needs work on housetraining and the leash, but I have no doubt she will be an "A" student. More to come from her foster home as they get to know her.

My name was Zeus but for registration purposes I am being called Brutus (for a very good reason). I am only 8 months old and I weigh 70 lbs! I am very strong and active and being a puppy, I forget just how big I am. I am very lovable and affectionate and am a quick learner. I will fit into any Boxer approved home! I was in my previous home for 6 months with two small kids but have assimilated quickly into my foster home with all the other dogs and their way of life. I love to go for walks and do very well on a leash. My foster Mommy is trying very hard to curb me from pulling while we walk. I am getting better already. I love to play fetch with my ball and frisbee and even a little soccer and kickball. My former human says I have a tendency to eat plants inside or out, but my foster parent has not seen this behavior in her home. I am learning the basic commands to "sit" and "lay down," but I am just too playful at times to pay any attention but I am getting better at this as well (remember, I'm a puppy). I love to take baths as long as I can get some time to play in the water. I am house broken and crate trained. I would love to find my forever home and just stay in one place and be loved forever.

Comments from foster home:
Hi! My name is Luna. I am a very sweet girl. I am currently going through heartworm treatment and then will be spayed and ready to go to my forever home. I like children and have been around cats. Once my foster family gets to know me better they will update my information. Bye for now!
~Luna
P.S. I was turned over to FBR by my human because I became infected with heartworms and the treatment is more expensive than preventing them would have been in the first place! It costs around $72 to keep me protected ALL YEAR, but hundreds of dollars to treat me once I'm infected - not to mention the pain and discomfort I must go through to fix it!
UPDATE 9/27/07:
Hi everyone! I am finished with my heartworm treatment and ready to play! My foster sister Jada is finished with her heartworm treatment too and we are great play buddies. I love to give boxer kisses and crawl up in your lap. I don't jump on the bed where my foster mom sleeps and prefer to stay on the floor. (But I do sneak up on the couch- don't tell on me!) I would be great with another furbaby to play with but don't mind being on my own either. I go into my crate without a fuss when my foster mom goes to work and I am so excited when she gets home! Even though I love it at my foster home, I would really, really like a forever home of my very own.

needs to go through heartworm treatment. He is good with other dogs,
crated trained, housebroken and seems to get along with

Comments from foster home:
Benny has just come into rescue after being pulled from Orange County Animal Services and will need to undergo heartworm treatment before he is available for adoption. Due to the heartworm infection, he is currently underweight and can be expected to put on 8-10 lbs once he is healthy.
Benny will need to be evaluated with children, cats and dogs but during the long drive from the shelter to FBR's vet office he exhibited a sweet disposition and a curious "personality," wanting to explore the inside of the truck and snuggle in the lap of our volunteer. With a little TLC Benny will make a great friend for one fortunate family!
Please check back for more info on Benny as we get to know him :-)
UPDATE 12/11/07:
Benny is doing very well in his foster home. He is such a good boy. Benny is happy to just be with you or if you are out he'll wait patiently for your return. Then he will reward you with lots of wiggles and nub wagging, Boxer style. No need to crate (he doesn't like it anyway) but why crate when he is old enough to behave himself and he does!!!!
This brindle boy doesn't have any formal training but is a very obedient Boxer. NO jumping, NO chewing and is perfectly housetrained. He does like water a lot because of being starved and thirsty before he came to his foster family. He gulps down the water and then vomits but this has improved greatly since coming into our home. Benny is a great friend to all of the skin children in our family. He is a watchful participant while the boys play PS2 or is very happy to play with his squeaky toy. He is also an avid sun bather outside by the pool. This pretty Boxer boy is on the small side even though he is gaining much needed weight. He is finishing his heartworm treatment this week and is looking forward to his forever home. Please look at this boy if you desire and older, calmer, quiet guy. He has been around other dogs and does well (there are no cats here though so no info in that area). We will keep everyone posted on this truly terrific Boxer!!

Comments from foster home:
Minnie Me is a beautiful reverse brindle Boxer girl. Minnie is what I like to call a "pocket Boxer" weighing in at around 40lbs she is pretty tiny. She was surrendered to Boxer Rescue after having been brought up with 3 other dogs, (2 males and another female), and has been living in her foster home with a male and female Boxer as well. Minnie likes to try and act tough when meeting other dogs but warms up very quickly and falls right into typical Boxer play. Because Minnie Me was formerly kept in an inappropriate environment, she came to us with very little obedience or potty training. After 2 months in her foster home the accidents have become few and far between and she is learning some basic obedience commands so she can become a perfect little lady. Please find it in your heart to give Minnie a loving and caring home she should have had from the start. She hasn't had much attention in the first two years of her life and just wants to be loved. Minnie is a very quick learner and will do whatever it takes to make you her forever family!

Bosco is a friendly, handsome fawn boy. He is housetrained and trustworthy in the home without crating. Bosco's former human reports he gets along with other dogs but has not lived with cats for several years so its unknown how he'd be with them now. He has been good with the older children he's met through friends. Bosco MUST go to a home with a fenced yard as he loves to run and play, chasing shadows is a favorite game of his. Bosco needs to be neutered before he will be available for adoption.

I am a very handsome Boxer boy. I am very scared of new things, but once I get comfortable I am a "love." Although I am good with people, dogs and cats, it would probably be better for me to be the only dog for a while. I need to know that I AM LOVED before sharing attention with other pets. I don't like being in a crate and will shake the whole time. My previous human said I had "too much energy" and was "scared of everything." I do like to play, and I do like to sit in your lap (I think I'm still a small puppy) but I only want to be loved and to love someone in return. Won't you please give me a chance to be the Boxer I was meant to be? I promise I will love YOU forever!!

Lady is a very sweet girl. She rides great in the car.
Lady is learning to trust again and is fitting in very nicely into her foster home. More information to come.
UPDATE 5/15/07: My name is Lady and a lady I am. I'm starting to
get into shape by losing some weight. Not exactly what I
wanted to do, but the vet suggested it. My foster mom says - if she runs I run, if she sits I
sit and give kisses and want to be in her lap. I rest my
head on her chest. Cats are not up my ally, you know
that commercial where the kid hollers to dad that
mom wants new flooring? Well, I kinda did that the other day -
I chased the cat and broke a lamp. Mom and dad where
actually thinking of getting new lamps so I just speeded
things up a bit! Hee. Hee.
I am not much for playing catch or anything like that;
I would just rather sit by you and be petted. I guess
"couch potato" would be a better name for me.
So, if you need that laid back kind of Boxer gal - come see
me and take me home!!

Comments from foster home: Meet Sassy...a beautiful Boxer girl with big brown eyes and just look at that smile! Sassy has been bewildered, finding herself abandoned, but she's smiling that Boxer smile now because she knows her rescue friends will help her find a deserving forever home. Sassy has been very sweet and calm with everyone she's met. She seems to get along well with other dogs but has not met any cats yet. She makes a good traveling companion as she settled in nicely on the ride from the shelter. She has been a little overindulged and is hoping her new family will like to share leisurely walks with her. Sassy has to finish up some vetting but will be available for adoption in about two weeks. Fill out your application now and ask for Sassy! One look at those big brown eyes and your heart will melt!
UPDATE 9/19/07:
Sassy has definitely made herself comfortable here. She loves to take
naps (especially in our sleep number bed). I think her sleep number is
45!!! I guess after playing around with her fur brother and sister, that
nap time is well deserved... Sassy loves water, whether it's in the
doggie pool or shooting full force out of a hose, she is all over it. She
also is very well behaved on a leash. Although Sassy does become a little
fearful at times, I am still trying to figure out what that stems from.
However we are enjoying her little pig noises; they provide hours of
laughter. I was thinking of changing her name to Miss Piggy. I
know Sassy is eager to start entertaining her Forever Family. Will it be you?

Topper has just come into rescue and we need to get to know him a little better and complete his vetting before he will be ready for adoption. Topper has been good with everyone he's met and seems to be a sweet mellow boy. Please check back for more info.
UPDATE 12/2/07:
All Topper wants for Christmas is a home. He is a sweet fellow - a little underweight but we are working on that. He gives kisses and hugs aplenty. He currently is staying with two Chihuahuas and has accepted them readily. He walks well on leash and enjoys rides in the car. Topper's vocabulary is growing. He knows "sit," "stay," "no"...we're working on "no jump," and he does give his paw too. He's housebroken and has seen cats and has been indifferent to them. Topper does have a little Houdini in him when it comes to his crate during the day, but he may just want to play with the Chihuahuas because at night he sleeps soundly inside. Topper is a sweet, mellow guy. He will be a great addition to any family suited for and committed to this breed.

Comments from foster home:
I am Jada. I was pulled from a Hillsborough County animal shelter after I was abandoned by my former "human" who left me alone in a vacant house by myself! It took a week before someone found me. I am very skinny but my foster mom has vowed to put some weight on me. I am trying to figure out what is going on right now; surely you can imagine how confused I am. I was very timid when my foster mom met me. I get along with my foster brother and sister and I am finding my place in the pack. I am crate trained and I am learning my new name. We need to work on some basic commands and leash walking 101. As if my life story isn't pathetic enough, I'm also infected with yucky heartworms and need treatment for that. I will keep you posted on my progress and will be ready for adoption in September. I hope to meet you; I really want my luck to change and know what it's like to be cared for properly.
UPDATE 9/27/07:
I am done with my heartworm treatment and feel much better. I have come out of my shell as they say and I play all the time with my foster brother and sisters. Four Boxers have tons of combined energy and my foster mom is thankful we wear each other out! I love to do sprints in the backyard and "Boxer hops." I need to work on my leash walking and will start my training with a gentle leader. My buddy Luna and I are looking for a forever home and hope that you will consider one of us. I think we are both very sweet girls and quite pretty if I do say so myself.
UPDATE 10/22/07:
I just spent five days with my foster mom's nephew. He is 2 and half years old. I did very well with him but my foster mom thinks it would better if I went to a home with kids five years old or older. Sometimes I just get too excited and may knock the little ones over. I walked with my foster grandma on leash and she said I was a perfect angel! I am cautious when meeting new people but warm up quickly. I just love to cuddle and sit on the couch with you. I'm very good at curling up into a tight little ball by your side. My foster aunt and grandma said I deserve a loving family because I am so swee (I think my aunt would have stowed me on the airplane if security was not so tight)! I have been in foster care for awhile and would love to meet my forever home soon.

LucyLu was pulled from animal services and cared for by Irene and Russ Franke of Senior Pug Rescue. They provided love and care until FBR had a foster home open for her. These guardian angels are also sponsoring her heartworm treatment! Thank You!!
Comments from foster home:
Miss LucyLu is a gem and is going to capture the hearts of many! Being a mature girl she is already housetrained, crate trained and walks well on the leash. LucyLu must be treated for heartworms as her former human did not provide her with monthly protection, so she will not be ready for adoption until late September. Miss LucyLu is just now settling into her foster home but we will update you soon!
Update 8/28/07
LucyLu has proved to be a very loyal girl whose favorite spot is right by your side. She is curious about new things and loves to cuddle and play. LucyLu is a calm Boxer and is content in her crate when left alone. Today LucyLu completed the second set of injections for her heartworm treatment and we anticipate she will be ready for adoption in 4-6 weeks. If you are looking for a calm loving companion, LucyLu is the girl for you!
Update 10/1/07
LucyLu has completed her heartworm treatment and is doing great! Now that she's feeling better her bubbly personality is coming out :-) LucyLu does not play well with cats but has been fine around other dogs. She really enjoys car rides and is a wonderful traveler...hops right in and lies down...no pacing or panting for this little lady! LucyLu is very loving and enjoys a lot of one on one attention. Will YOU be the fortunate family to share your heart and home with her?
Update 11/01/07:
LucyLu is an angel of a Boxer. She shares her foster home with a male Boxer but would not mind being the only furkid in the home (she cannot be placed with another female dog). She loves people and would be fine with children age ten and over (because she was a stray we have no history with small children). LucyLu is good in the house, great on leash and a perfect lap warmer and cuddler!

Comments from foster home:
Sophie was turned over to FBR along with her sister and littermate, Josie, when their human was deployed. These petite girls are full of young Boxer exuberance, playing well together and wearing one another out, as well as other doggie friends who join in. Sophie and Josie love their big crate and like to curl up together for naps and bedtime. Like all Boxers, they enjoy attention and snuggling with their humans.
Sophie has a sensitive digestive system and will need to be kept on food for sensitive stomach.
They like car rides and seemed to enjoy the water and sand on a recent lake outing. They are working on Obedience 101 and have learned "Sit," "Down," "Out," "Go to Your Crate," "Lie Down," "Get Back" and "Wait." Learning not to jump up is a little more difficult and for this reason they will need to be placed with older children. They have never been around cats but we suspect they may want to chase them too much.
Sophie and Josie have never been separated and always want to be near one another. For this reason we would like to place them together in a home with no other female dogs and a fenced yard for playtime with their new family.

Tico is a typical puppy who will need house training and leash work. He gets along with other dogs but has never been around cats or kids. His previous human reports he is a calm boy and listens well.
UPDATE 12/7/07:
Tico's true personality is showing now and he is definitely not the CALM boy he presented himself as :o). He needs a very active Boxer savvy home with a playmate to expend some energy. His foster home reports he is doing well with leash manners and loves to go to the dog park and on walks. Since he was not socialized well with people (other than his previous human) until 3 wks ago, he tends to play very rough and mouths everything so no young children.

Nacho is a beautiful flashy brindle boy that gets along well with other dogs. He's very skinny at the moment, but will always be a tad on the smaller side. He's quite calm for a two year old, and is house and crate trained. He's totally a lover. More info to come as we get to know Nacho.

Comments from foster home: Tyson comes to FBR along with Bobo. His human was ill and kept him in a highly improper environment.
Hey there, I'm Tyson! Ok so I am in a foster home now. I say home not "house" because that is what it feels like already. It is really cool!! There are all these toys that I am allowed to play with and these soft beds that I can lay down and sleep on (not that I have yet). I also like to lay on the couch and snuggle up next to my foster mom. I have been having so much fun my first night here just playing with every toy in the toy box. I like to shake them and throw them around, it must be funny because my foster mommy just keeps laughing and laughing. Oh and there is this other dog here, he looks just like me and he keeps showing up on the other side of the mirrored doors. I keep barking at him to get him to play with me but he just barks back. He is weird - he does everything I do, I guess he knows how cool I am and wants to be just like me. I also have a foster sister that is really nice. She plays with me in the backyard and runs around with me. It is a lot of fun. Mom says I still need to go in a crate when she is not home but she has a great big giant one with lots of room so I am ok in there. I don’t like the smaller crate. Mom says I need to learn to potty outside and that all good boys potty in the yard and not in their homes. So, I guess I need to learn that along with some other doggie manners (but it's not my fault, no one ever taught me this stuff before).
I am still very thin and need to put some weight on and be neutered before I am ready for adoption but that should only take a couple weeks and then I came move on to my FOREVER HOME!!!!

Comments from foster home:
Sugar is a sweet Boxer girl that has very expressive eyes. You can tell what she wants or needs just by looking in those big brown eyes. She gets along with all dogs and would enjoy having a fur sibling in her new home to play with! She is only 2 and was used as a breeder dog (white Boxers should never be bred). Sugar is much more calm then most Boxers her age. She is fully house trained and crate trained, although she has shown signs of being able to be left out of the crate in the home as she is well behaved. She loves to snuggle and give kisses. Sugar will be available after she has been spayed so she never again will have to go through being a mom and can just be a best friend to her new family!!

Comments from foster home:
Iris is so beautiful; she is just a sweetie and a love bug. She has been getting along with all the dogs in her foster home. Iris knows her name and comes when you call her and she only got the new name a couple hours ago! When you tell her "no" she sits her butt down and waits for what you tell her next! She walks well on a leash and appears to be crate and house trained. Iris is a real gem of a Boxer and will be a blessing to whoever adopts her.
UPDATE 10/31/07:
Iris is doing really well in her foster home. She enjoys playing with all the dogs male and female. She LOVES to play fetch both in the house and in the yard. She is realLY good at catching the toy in the air or bumping it with her nose and then catching it . Iris has been a good girl in the house and crates up nicely when I need to leave. She is house broken and just an absolute love. Iris should be in a home with other dogs since she enjoys playing as much as she does. She would also do well with an active family that may even consider working with her on some agility training. She is very obedient; she knows "sit" and "stay." She even will sit and wait after you have thrown the toy until you give her the OK to go get the toy. "Fetch" is her favorite pastime and she'll play for hours on end if you let her so you better have a good throwing arm to keep up with her. If you try to stop playing she will just keep putting the ball/Frisbee/toy or anything else she has in your lap and keep nudging you with her little nose to say “C’mon I want to keep playing!" Iris doesn’t tire easily which is why an active family would be best.

Comments from foster home:
I love carrots! I really am quite small and adorable. My face is cute and very Boxer smooshy. I have two distinct "cowlicks," one on top of my head and one on my shoulder. I guess when I was a little pup, a cow licked my fur? I have a sweet disposition with people I meet, but am kinda shy at the start. I am potty-trained and I know "sit" and "down." I like to ride in the car. Any attention I can get is wonderful and I am very affectionate. I am not real fond of the resident male and female Boxers, but I am trying to like them. I might need to be the ONLY doggie in your life. I will keep you posted on how the socializing is progressing. I like to eat carrots as treats--I might have fur-gotten to tell you ;- ). I am also very fun and like tennis balls and action. The kitty looks like a furry tennis ball, so it's best I don't get one of those in my new home. If you like carrots, please adopt me.

Hi my name is Heisman because I could be a "trophy" Boxer. I am so AMAZING looking. I have perfectly cropped ears and docked tail. I am a happy, bouncy, active Boxer. The vet estimated my age at 2 years. I have been giving Tyson a run for his money all night. I am all pla,y play, play, and run, run, run!
I would love to have a backyard that I can run around in and a fur sibling to play with. I am just enjoying playing in my foster home. I am obviously good with other dogs and enjoy playing with them. I can be with kids but because of my super bouncy hyper personality it would be best that the children in my home be older so they can handle my exuberance better.
I am crate trained and doing ok with house training so far. So if you would like a wonderful, happy Boxer boy then I am your guy. I challenge you to take me home and keep up with me! You better have a lot of energy because I sure do and I am not fixin' to slow down anytime soon.

Everyone who has met me has fallen in love with me. No Lie! I am becoming a beach bum on the weekends and am working on my swimming skills. Bella is a very sweet, petite girl. She needs to be treated for a heartworm infection and requires additional vet services after that.
UPDATE 7/25/07:
Bella is a very thin, very active little girl. She is looking for an active, fun family as she is somewhat of a clown. She is the more dominant of the two sisters and will run to the fence quickly to "check things out." Bella is also very loving and does well on leash. Obedience 101 is a consideration for her new family. She gets over-stimulated and could use a bit of training to stay focused. She has not bothered the cat at all. Comments from foster home:
Hi! Bentley here. My former family called me Pancho. But when my
human baby sister came
along, there wasn't any room for me anymore. So hearing my new
foster Mom & Dad call me Bentley is tail wagging fun!! Now I have a
foster Puggle sister named Zora. I love playing with her even
though Mom says we make a lot of
noise. My foster Mom says I am just a big baby and I am trying to
learn her rules -
Like not taking Zora's food or toys. But I already knew the rule
about pee
and poop outside. I still need a lot of practice walking past all
the people and dogs who walk past me outside.
I would really like a forever home with a big yard to run and play
in. Mom says my long legs need a lot of exercise. A forever
family with patience that will help me learn more rules & manners
would love my hugs & kisses.
UPDATE 9/19/07: Boy, Bentley has progressed really well in the 5 weeks since we became his foster family!! He just returned from 7 funderful days at "Bark Park" while my husband and I were out of town. He loved the other dogs and the owners 2 children (8 & 10 yrs.) When we brought him home it was like he finally found himself. The socialization was just what he needed. Now he just needs a patient family that is willing to work on behavior training. Experienced Boxer parents will love this boy!

I am a very handsome four year old boy with very expressive eyes. I am good with my other foster buddy and we love to play outside. I am well behaved and love all the people I meet as long as I am introduced properly to them. I get anxious when people just come up to me. I was left alone in my previous home for two months and the only time I was allowed out was to go potty, so I got used to being in a "guard" mode. I am still somewhat anxious when someone comes up to a fence when I am outside and will bark when I see him or her. I have adjusted well with my new foster family and am learning to "just love life" again. I am anxiously awaiting notification that ET (that's me) has his forever home!

Comments from foster home:
Pixie is a very scared little girl; she is approximately 44 lbs. She needs to be socialized and introduced to different things over the next few weeks before I feel she will be ready for adoption. She gets along great with other dogs and is quick to follow their signs if they have had enough of her playing. Pixie is not crazy about the crate but will go in and settle as long as her foster brother is in his next to her. Pixie will definitely need to go to a home with another dog for companionship. Her ears are cropped but they do not stand. Check back for a progress report from her Foster Mom in the next few weeks.
UPDATE 8/24/07:
Pixie is ready for her furever home. She needs a brother or sister in her new home as she is very insecure around new people and the outside world. It took her about 2 weeks in our home to warm up to everyone and let her true Boxer personality shine. She is a silly little girl who loves toys and nylabones. She loves to play with her 72 lb foster brother and thinks nothing of giving him a good right hook to get his attention. With that being said, Pixie will back off if he gives her the "leave me alone" look. The yard is her Race Track so have your checkered flags ready and get out of the way when the Race is ON :o) Pixie is a different dog when she leaves the safety of her home and yard. She will need a patient family willing to work with her every day to build her confidence outside of the home. Pixie has a wonderful happy personality and even at her young age will settle down and snuggle with you; she really is a good puppy. If you have room in your home and heart for Pixie, I know she will give back more Boxer slurps and love than you can imagine.

Hi Everyone. This very cute boy's name is Weezer. His previous family fell on some pretty hard times and very sadly surrendered him to rescue. Weezer is the sweetest big mushy faced boy you'll ever meet. He has a very big boy bark and tends to be a good alarm when anyone is outside...like other people in the neighborhood walking their dogs! However, he doesn't bark a lot, and really listens very well. He is still pretty young and will need a family with lots of energy to play with him. Weezer is an absolute NUT for tennis balls! He loves to carry them around with him, drop them at your feet and will nudge you to get you to throw them for him so he can run and get them to bring back. He also loves to chase the frisbee and bring it back to be thrown again. He is very fond of the water and will get in the bathtub anytime he's told (and sometimes when you least expect company)! Weezer is great with our nearly 10 year old female Boxer, loves my 9 year old son, and the one time he saw cats he didn't even pay attention to them. He is not fond of crates, and has been fine staying loose in the house with my female during the day. He was 'doggie door' house broken previously and is learning to 'hold it' for longer periods of time when I am at work. Weezer knows he isn't supposed to potty in the house and has the most heartbreaking sad face when I come home and find an 'accident.' Today no accidents! He was soooo excited when I told him he was a "good boy" and he jumped 4 feet straight up with all the wiggles he could muster! He really wants to be pleasing, and is such a sweetheart. He is still intact and has been scheduled to be neutered before he is available. He is on antibiotics for a minor skin irritation on his knees and elbows, but otherwise has received a clean bill of health. Please consider giving this absolutely beautiful boy a fun, loving, forever home. He'll give you lots of love and slurps in return!

Shrek is a stunningly handsome Boxer boy. He was turned into a local animal control facility by his humans along with Fiona. He is a real sweet boy that is currently going through h/w treatment.
Shrek is such a love bug! He loves anyone he meets which he shows by giving lots of kisses. Playing is his second love. He gallops after toys like a little horse. He’s crate trained and goes to his crate on his own or even on command. Of course, he’ll go in a lot quicker with a treat. He is house broken and knows “sit” and “down." Because Shrek is so eager to please I feel he has the potential of being a star pupil in any training endeavor. He walks well on a leash, but gets excited when there is something new to smell. Other dogs interest him and he isn’t aggressive towards them when we go on a walk. He and Fiona, our foster Boxer girl, get along very well together. It would be best if he went to a home with no young children because of his playfulness and size. Come see Shrek so he can show you in person just how loveable he is!

Fiona is just as sweet as can be. She was turned into a shelter by her humans along with Shrek. Fiona is currently going through h/w treatment. More to come once we get to know her more.
Fiona is such a bouncy Boxer beauty! She has a beautiful mahogany coat and sweet wistful eyes. She melts your heart in just one look! She loves to bounce around and sometimes it seems like she is on a trampoline. Fiona will even bounce up to give you kisses! Because she is so bouncy, a house with no young children would be best. Cuddling is one of her favorite activities second only to tossing her squeaky toys around and pouncing on them. Fiona knows “sit” and is house broken. She is also crate trained but would really rather spend her time with you, watching t.v., playing with toys, or chewing on some treats. She does not like being left alone for long and would do best at a house where someone is home most of the time or that already has a submissive dog to keep her company. She came to rescue with Shrek, so if you have enough room in your house and heart for both of them, that would be ideal for her. One visit with this Boxer beauty and she will bounce her way right into your heart!

Nina is working on house-training manners and walks beautifully on a leash. She is crate trained and is happy to go when a treat is involved! She is a gentle "old soul" even though she is only two years old. Her foster Mom thinks she may have been a Mom too many times in her young life. She came into rescue with her litter mate, Bella. Comments from foster home:
My name is Zoey and I am the true picture of a neglected Boxer. I spent my first years of life as a breeding dog. I reportedly had 3 litters in just 12 months! Once I had provided my "humans" with all those puppies they dumped me off on another family. I liked them but they only had me for 5 days before dumping me at a shelter.
UPDATE 9/13/07:
Hi, everyone, mom thought it would be best if I wrote a little something about myself. I am really doing much better in my foster home and have settled in nicely. When I first got here I was really jealous of the other dogs and wanted all the attention but I know now that I have to share mom with everyone. I still get plenty of loving. I am getting along better with my foster siblings as well. I don’t know how to play, no one ever taught me so I am trying to learn but it is hard. I love to play in the yard on my own. What I do is I take the squeak toy outside and throw it up in the air then do a lap around the yard and try and catch it before it hits the ground. I am not very good though because every time I come back around the toy is already on the ground but I will keep trying! I am a fast runner, "Olympic quality" if I do say so myself. I also love to just relax and sit with you and snuggle. I am very good about not getting up on the furniture and I love to sleep in my crate. It is so cozy in there that I have no problem being in there while you are away from home.
I should tell you I was not fully house trained when I got here. I didn’t know that I am supposed to go outside, if I had to go, I just went. Well mom has explained that dogs potty outside and I am getting it now. I am not perfect yet but I am getting better and if I am let out often then I don’t have any accidents. I also have not had any real time around small children so perhaps it would be best that I live with no children or older children who understand what my needs are.
I want someone to love me, that is the one thing that has been missing in my life. I was used and thrown away like a piece of garbage. I am so glad the Boxer Rescue was able to come and take me and show me the love and compassion I have longed for so desperately. So if you have space in your heart and home I promise to return your kindness with lots of Boxer kisses and snuggle time. I am a beautiful girl and my picture doesn’t do me justice. Please give me a second chance to live a long happy life with you.

Max came into rescue with his female companion, Missy. Max is a beautiful boy and a great size if you are looking for a lap dog! Max enjoys the company of other dogs and children. He has not had much exposure to cats, but Max, like Missy, has a very sweet, gentle nature. He is housebroken, crate trained and knows basic commands. He loves car rides, walks and basically, just hanging out with YOU. Please come give Max a chance to bring some Boxer love into your life (and if your heart and home are BIG enough, consider taking his companion, Missy, home too)! They really love each other.

Location: St. Pete, Veronica J.
Comments from foster home:
I picked Betty up at the vet's office and she was perfectly calm and well-mannered as she went through her check-up and ear washing. She was originally a stray from Collier County and turned in at their shelter on 7/25/07; her age is estimated at 13 months. On the ride home, she jumped right in the backseat and laid down, just as comfy as could be! Once in her foster home, the kitten came by and looked her over, then hissed, and Betty just looked back at her but wasn't really fazed. Later, she met the resident male miniature pinscher, who growled at her, but she just looked at him like he was crazy. She appears house-trained and crate-trained, as we've had no accidents inside. Betty slept overnight in the crate. Unfortunately, Betty is heartworm positive and starting treatment; she should be available for adoption in October.
UPDATE 8/18/07:
Betty began HW treatment today and has two months to go before it will be completed.
She's been in her foster home 8 days now and she's best friends with Petey the min pin (see photo above). She's not sure what to make of the cat and stares at her a lot; when I hold the cat and call Betty over, she gives the cat kisses. But if the cat's on the move, Betty gives chase! I think she just wants to play.....
Betty has also met the two small neighbor boys and she gave them a big wiggly hello! She has great manners too! She "stays" at the door until given the OK to go out. She has learned to "stay" for her breakfast and dinner until given the OK to eat, is completely house-trained, is crated for 6 hours each day while the humans go to work, and sleeps in a nice big doggie bed with Petey, in our room at night.
She's a sweet, sweet girl and is happy just to be around her people, whether in the living room, kitchen or out in the backyard--she just wants to be with you and is always on her best behavior. Can it get any better than that?

Comments from foster home: Missy is currently being boarded at a kennel facility. She really would benefit from being in a foster home. Please consider helping her! Let us know if you can provide temporary loving care for Missy.
Missy came into rescue with her life long companion, Max, due to a divorce. Missy is a very shy girl with new people, but she lights up with wiggles and kisses when Max is around. Missy is housebroken, crate trained and knows basic commands. She loves riding in the car, swimming and playing with other fur friends. She's had minimal exposure to children and cats. As you can see, Missy is a BIG girl and really needs to shed some pounds, so if you are looking for a companion on your walks, she is your girl! Missy has a whole lotta love to share and we would love to see her and Max stay together; but if this is not possible, she definitely needs another fur boy in her FURever home! Please come meet Missy. I guarantee, you will fall in love!

Comments from foster home:
Hi, my name is Charlie. I am new to my foster home but think it is a great place. The last place I called home was an open field. I went for some time without very much food and am a bit under weight. The vet said I was pretty healthy considering someone abandoned me. I am fully vetted and ready to go to my new home. I am pretty close to being potty trained. I will go on a puppy pad if you provide one for me. However, I will not need that before long. I like to give hugs. My foster home has a skin kid and I just love him. I sometimes get a little rough my foster mom says, so maybe I'd do better with some larger kids in my forever home. Not that I am trying to hurt little ones - I guess I do not know my own strength. I am a little timid at first, but I will warm up quickly. If you are looking for a little guy that needs some training and are willing to give me the love and patience needed in caring for a young Boxer, then I am the dog for you.

Hi, my name is Buddy. I lost my home when my pet parent moved somewhere I wasn't welcome.
If you're looking for tall dark and handsome I'm your guy. And if you like the athletic type come and play ball with me. I lived with a pretty Boxer girl previously but I'm picky about other dogs I like to play with. Since I'm young I think if the introduction goes well, another girl dog would be fun to hang with. I'm sure once I go to that place they call a Foster Home the people there will get to know more about me. So check back or come and take me to your house since it doesn't look like I'll be having much fun sitting in a kennel.
UPDATE 9/11/07:
"My
Buddy. My Buddy, my Buddy and meeee!" So some of you might not be
able to remember the doll from the late 80's, -early 90's with this
catchy theme song, but this Boxer truly exemplifies the message of
the tune. He has ridden in the car beautifully, played with 2 five
month old pups and a 4 year old male at the same time without the
slightest hint of aggression, and has given tons of sloppy kisses to
his foster parents and sister-Nola. The two slept together on their
first night and even shared a treat this morning. Buddy is curious
as to what you are doing and where you are going, but he
is a quiet observer. Our garbage can is visibly out and he hasn't
touched it. We have even left shoes on the ground and he casually
sniffed them, finding the toy beside them more appealing. We will
keep you all posted as
to his progress.

Kellogg has been diagnosed with cancer and will be staying with his foster human until he begins to show signs of suffering. He will receive lots of love and the type of care he should have had all along.
Comments from foster home:
HLMC (handsome, loving, male, canine) seeks LHMF (loving, human, male or female) companion.
My name is Kellogg and I'm 7 years old. I'm looking for a stay-at-home human because I get anxious when left alone - but with another dog I'm good, I just don't like the crate. If my human is there I'm perfectly content to lay on the kitchen rug while you're cooking--and I don't beg! When you're watching TV, I lay in the living room and at bed time I like to sleep on my doggie bed in your room. If you want to take me for short walks, I'm game! If you don't, I'm cool with going out in the backyard a couple of times during the day and again in the evening.
I'm completely house trained, I don't chew on your stuff, I lay down on car rides and I love a bath and a brush!
I've lived w/ little male daschunds before, and I live w/ a male min pin now, but I don't understand cats yet--but my foster mom is teaching me about them so I think we'll be friends soon. If you're looking for a dog-connection, I'm your boy!

Lanie is a sweet little girl who came from a neglectful situation where she was used as a breeding machine. She recently had puppies and requires some time to gain her strength back before she can be treated for heartworms and then spayed. Lanie is so happy to be in a loving environment and has been great with the young children and other dogs in her foster home! Check back for more on Lanie.
UPDATE 6/15/07: Lanie is thriving in her foster home. The supplements she is receiving are working wonders on her coat, and her personality is beginning to shine as well. Lanie will be able to begin her heartworm treatment next week. It is a two part treatment after which she will need to be spayed so she continues to be unavailable for adoption for a couple more months.

Caymen was pulled from Hillsborough animal services. He just arrived in his foster home today so we have lots to learn, but can let you know already that he's a very sweet boy that is just fine with other dogs. His foster home has 3 other dogs. He's a lover! Caymen will be getting treated for demodex (which has already begun). He has a natural tail to let you know how much he loves you! It goes in circles, it's so darn cute!!
We'll post more soon when we know more, but can tell already that he's just a lover boy.
UPDATE 8/23/07:
Hi! My name is Caymen. I just got to my foster home yesterday and I’m absolutely loving it! I have a brother and two sisters to play with and I get along with them great. I even like cats! There’s even all these fun toys to play with! I’m not one to brag, but I may be one of the most loving, happy dogs you’ll ever meet. I do have a natural tail, but I say it’s to show my happiness even more when I wag it! I have demodex and kennel cough but both are being resolved as we speak. I’ll be better in no time! I’m very skinny and kind of a picky eater, but my foster family is trying hard to get me to a healthy weight. Since it seems as though I haven’t lived inside a home before, my foster family is working with me on potty training. I’m a quick learner and I‘ve been a really good boy in my crate while my family has been at work! I really like going for walks and can walk really well on a leash. My foster mom says I’m just the sweetest boy and ever so cute. I just want a home to call my own and a family to love me like I deserve.

* PLEASE ONLY APPLY TO ADOPT DEWEY IF YOU HAVE A POOL HOME
AND WILL ALLOW HIM TO USE IT EACH DAY FOR SWIM THERAPY.
Comments from foster home:
Dewey is a typical bouncy Boxer boy with lots of energy and will do well with some basic training. He is used to being around a 2 year old and other dogs. He needs to be neutered before he is available for adoption and also needs to be checked out by a vet for some issues with his hind legs. Please check back for updates on his prognosis and availability.
UPDATE 6/8/09:
Dewey is the goofiest, silliest Boxer with the biggest head ever. But his head is so cute the you just want to smoosh his face every time he looks at you with those big brown eyes. He is also the sweetest and happiest big boy with such a wonderful disposition. He gets along with all dogs and just adores children. When he was at a recent FBR event he made all the little ones giggle when he licked their toes or gave them puppy kisses. He was so patient and let them pat and pet him all over. He was gentle and never even once tried to jump on any of them. The jury is still out on cats; he stares at mine and makes no motion to attack. However, if the cat runs, Dewey will give chase. Dewey is truly a diamond in the rough, and would do well with some training on how to "come" and not to pull on the leash during walks. He is house broken and crate trained and sleeps on the floor beside the bed at night. He is also good about not getting up on the furniture unless invited, but be warned he is a 60 pound lap dog that loves to snuggle. He is also great about not chewing on anything he is not supposed to chew on; he loves his nylabones.
Dewey had his first doctor appointment with the Orthopedic vet for his leg this week. He has an issue with his knee that will need to be rechecked in a month at which time he will most likely need knee replacement surgery. So Dewey is going to be unavailable for a while longer then expected because he will need time to recover from surgery in a quiet home where he will need to be kept very calm and still.
UPDATE 6/25/07:
Hi everyone, mom said I could tell you all about my day. It was so awesome and wonderful, I just want to tell everyone! Ok, so mom said we were going swimmin’ - I didn’t know what that was but I got to go in the car so I was happy. Well swimmin’ is the most awesomist thing EVER!!!! It totally rocked, and I was sooooo good at it. Like, at first I was kind of scared, well not scared as I am a big boy (WOOF)...heheh... so anyway, I was more unsure, but once I got in and saw how fun it was I was all over the place.
Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! And there were these fishies that were jumping out of the water so I swam so fast and was trying to catch them but I couldn’t. But I still swam out sooooo far and Rebel, my foster brother, he was real nice and showed me how fun it is to go out far and actually swim. And then my other friend Oscar showed up and he, my sister Nimah, and I we just ran up and down in the water jumping on each other and playing! It was so great I have never had so much fun and just played and played. I know mom said I need to take it easy, but my knee really doesn’t feel so bad right now so mom said if it feels ok tomorrow, we might go swimmin’ again later this week. I hope my knee is ok cause I really want to go swim again. If you are thinking of adopting me someday will you promise to take me swimmin’?
I really like my new Boxer life in rescue; I never got this much love and attention in my old home. But now I am so happy! I have bones to chew on, a soft bed to sleep in, and so many friends. It is just so nice. Thank you rescue people for giving me a whole new life full of swimmin’ and running and playing - life is so AWESOME. And mom says when I find my new forever home it is going to be even better (I don’t know how it could get better then this, but hey I am up for it). So new family who ever you are - watch out 'cause here I come a splashin’ and rompin’!!!!!
Ok it is nap time now.
UPDATE 7/30/07:
Dewey has recovered quite well from his knee surgery and is now ready to go to his forever home. He still needs to be kept relatively calm and have supervised activity. Dewey is not ready to go run around the back yard quite yet. He would also do well if the home has a pool where he can do some daily swimming to strengthen his new knee. He will also need to go back to see Dr. Hay at Veterinarian Surgical Services in Tampa, Florida in October for a checkup. Dewey and FBR are very grateful to Dr. Hay for all his wonderful work on Dewey’s knee and for all the work he does for many of our wonderful Boxers. Although this may sound like a lot of work for a new dog in your home, trust me - spend just 5 minutes with Dewey and you will know he is worth every minute you spend helping him recover. I have been fostering Dewey for a couple months now and have grown to love him very much. He is one of the most AWESOME Boxers I have ever known. There are not enough words to describe just how great he is and how gentle and loving his personality is. So both Dewey and I hope that special person is out there who is willing to give him some extra care in the beginning. You will be rewarded ONE MILLION times over in the love that you will get back from him.

I just came out of Animal Control today and what a day! I think I impressed everyone with my strength, my wiggles and my exuberance. It was said that I need some work on my manners but I do know "sit" when told to sit. My new foster dad told me I was handsome and I know he will take good care of me including teaching me "manners." I will keep you posted on my progress!!
Foster home update 8/20/07:
I have had Diego for about 2 months now and he is doing great. He has been neutered and is ready to go to his forever home. He is very playful and loves to run in the back yard for as long as you will let him. Diego's favorite toys are tennis balls and water bottles - some of those in the back yard for playtime and he's good to go! He loves to go on walks too, and if you let him, he will walk YOU! However, Diego walks right next to you with no issues most of the time. He loves kids and other dogs but I suggest he goes to a home with older children as he is very strong and tends to knock younger kids over when playing. He doesn't know his own weight or strength. Diego loves car rides; he sits in the back seat and looks out the windows and when he has had enough, he lays right down and goes to sleep. Diego is very active and needs to be with parents that will play with him and show him lots of love. Diego is also crate trained and house trained. When it is time for you to go to work, show him a treat and before you know it, he's waiting in his crate for the treat! Diego is an awesome dog; I know whoever takes him home will fall in love with him right away.

Bradley is a sweet Boxer boy that had a rough start. He was found wandering the street skinny and full of ticks. Bradley has been vetted and is almost ready for adoption. The good samaritan who found him reports that he got along with a female dog at her home but did not like the intact male dog that lived next door. Bradley is very kissy and lovable. He is crate trained and working on leash manners. Bradley has found a foster home - thank you Laurie Simpson!

My name is Bella and I am a sweet and beautiful girl that loves everyone and everything that I see. I am having a blast running around with my 150 pound Mastiff foster brother! I love to play in water and I love to "fetch." I am a little on the thin side, but now that I am on puppy food we are hoping I gain some weight. I am totally housebroken and I am learning to love my crate. I love my crate at night when I can see my foster family sleep, but when they go to work I cry a little. I am not a chewer although I have been known to do some "counter surfing." I am set to be spayed this week. I would love to go to a forever home that has other four-legged friends for me to play with! Hope to lick, uh, I mean, see you soon!

she doesn't like my Boxer kisses, but I hope that you do.

Hi, my name is Zoe. I am a 7 year old, 80 pound bundle of love! Crunch and I came to FBR when our human developed health issues. I have beautiful brown expressive eyes. I love to give licks and kisses and just love to be around people. I was raised with two children and just love kids too! I have not been around other dogs much and once again am unsure how to act around them. Some basic socializing and training will go a long way with me. I am eager to please. I was not used to being crated, and after some initial hesitance about the crate, I am doing better.
UPDATE 7/18/07: Zoe's companion Crunch was adopted; she doesn't seem fond of dogs other than him. She does okay during the initial introduction, but we feel she'd do best in a home where she'd be an only dog. Guess what? Turns out Zoe likes cats! Or at least she enjoys sleeping with the one in her foster home!! Of course as with any dog going to a home with a cat, a proper introduction is required/recommended.

I was found by some really nice people while wandering around lost. I seemed very unhappy, likely because I had had a litter of puppies and I didn't know where they were. I was probably used as a breeding machine for someone, and eventually turned loose or escaped. Thank goodness I was found! I know I am well taken care of now, but unfortunately I am heartworm positive and will have to undergo treatment for them and then after that I will need to be spayed! I will be spending quite a lot of time being brought back to health, but once I am healthy again, I promise you I will be the best girl for YOU to adopt. I am full of kisses and Boxer wiggles. I would be so very happy to shower you with my love and devotion. My name is Willow, because I bent, but I didn't BREAK. UPDATE 1/28/07: Willow is at a kennel until a foster home is found; based on observations there, she appears to not be fond of other dogs and would do best as someone's only pet.
UPDATE 2/28/07: Hello, Boxer Lovers! I just wanted to check in with you all and let you know how I'm doing in my new foster home. Wow! I am so happy! First off, let me say, I LOVE to cuddle and snuggle...and if you don't mind, I have kisses to share, too. My foster mom is teaching me about these things called toys and games, but so far, my favorite is the big milkbone she gives me! She laughs at me because I like to prance around with the milkbone in my mouth and then hide it for later. I love to go for walks and I am told that I walk very well on a leash. I am very well behaved around new people that I meet and I get very excited when I see dogs and kids playing outside. I look forward to meeting them all when I finish my heartworm treatment and I don't have to be so careful about bouncing around! I am not crazy about the crate, but I aim to please, so I am just fine to take naps in there while my foster mom is away. Did I mention that I am housebroken, too? As you can see, I am really soaking up all this newfound attention and love. I so look forward to finding a family of my own and a place to call home for the rest of my life. My foster mom says that I have the heart of a puppy, but I am amazingly calm for a Boxer, whatever that means. She calls me Princess Willow! I am just so glad that she thinks I'm so special...and if you come and meet me, maybe you'll think I'm special, too! (more to come when I finish my heartworm treatment in mid March and get spayed!)
FOSTER HOME UPDATE 5/16/07:
I think Willow may be closer to 5 or 6 yrs. old. With all the walking we do, she's firmed up and gotten more muscular! She loves making friends when we walk, especially the little guys--she doesn't like dogs that are bigger than her.... and cats--I'm not sure. When Willow sees one in the yard it really entertains her to see them jump the fence. Oh - she can jump the fence also. I was on the other side one day and she came over! She sailed over it another time as well, so her forever family must take precautions and supervise her time spent outdoors.
Willow is a beautiful petite full-figured gal. I just adore this dog! She's so sweet and loving and has the greatest personality. Yes--I call her Princess or Willow -- she answers either and she loves me to bits. Also, she patiently waits for everything: there's no rush to go anywhere, whether it's breakfast or a walk or a ride in the car. I do use a doggie seat belt, she loves to jump around and set the alarm off-- that's the comedianne in her!
Mostly, Willow loves to cuddle---I just love her.

Comments from foster home:
Hi! It's me, Taelor! I want to tell everyone about myself. As you can see, I am a beautiful fawn "au naturel" Boxer girl! I would love a family with children and a doggie brother to play with. I've never been around cats so I'm not sure how I'll react to the one in my foster home. I've spent a lot of my time living in remote locations with my former human, so I may be a little skittish on a leash "in town" with loud noises such as cars whizzing by. I am housetrained and will spend time in a crate but I don't really care for it. Once I get settled into my foster home I'll send you an update!
Until then, Boxer Slurps from Taelor!
Update 7/7/07:
It's Taelor again...updating you on how I'm doing :-) My foster sister and I get along ok, but I really enjoy my foster brother and we have great fun running laps when we go out to play. Everyone knows we Boxers stay puppy-like our whole lives, but those of us who are a little more mature prefer shorter bursts of energy and then we like to chill out for awhile before going out and doing it again. My foster Mom and Dad say that makes me a Perfect Boxer! (Well...maybe not quite Perfect because I've been really obsessed with chasing the kitty so I've been told my forever home cannot have cats).
Did I mention I LOVE people, anyone and everyone is greeted with my tail wagging (isn't that reason enough to have a tail) and if you give me any encouragement I'll be happy to provide lots of Boxer slurps. Friends were over the other night who fell in love with me and wanted to take me home...but they have 3 cats...Darn!!!
Car rides are another favorite thing to do...it's fun looking out the window and smiling at everyone passing by. Wonder where they're all going? I'm not into chasing balls or playing with toys. I'm happy to just be with you and maybe a fur brother to play with. My foster Mom and Dad are really great; they treat me so well and I'm happy here but I hope I can find my own forever home soon...they say I sooooo deserve it! Hope to hear from you soon!!!

Dodger came to FBR with his sister Letra, and both are currently being boarded until a foster home(s) can be found. Dodger has been neutered and is ready for his forever home. He is quite a strong boy who needs work on leash manners. He is very affectionate. Please help us get this boy into a new home where he can flourish with lots of love and some training - if you can provide foster care, please let us know!

Letra was brought into FBR with her partner Dodger. She is much cuter in person with an adorable black muzzled face that just is always ready to give kisses. She is in great shape, has been spayed and is looking for that certain family that will give her a loving home and also help teach her some leash skills. Please help us by providing a temporary foster home or adoptive forever home for this cute girl! She is just waiting to give you lots of love and kisses!

Comments from foster home:
Hi my name is Quorra (pronounced Cora). My foster mom has given me a report card! Here it is:
Manners/Behavior – B- : Quorra is very loving and has a tendency of jumping up on people to give them kisses. She is gentle about it but she definitely likes to give kisses and lots of them. She doesn’t beg for food. She is completely house trained and knows to do her “business” outside. She is crate trained but I think she could also do well left out of the crate once settled into her new home and work her way up to being left with free roam in the house. Quorra doesn’t get on the furniture unless invited and sleeps on the floor beside the bed at night.
Intelligence – A-: She is getting the A- because she was smart enough to figure out how to go out the dog door but is still working on coming back IN the dog door! However, she does come when called and knows a few commands like "sit" and does an ok "stay." She also walks well on the leash. Quorra behaves in the yard and doesn’t dig or try to get out but she is also not left outside unattended.
Temperament – A++: She has been great around all people she meets. I have taken her to Petco and Petsmart and she is very gentle with children and adults alike. She does have a bit of a jealous streak in that she wants to be loved on all the time and will push her way between me and my other dog to get her “lovin” but not in any sort of aggressive way she just sticks her head in there and gives you that look that makes you just melt. However this past week with all of the heavy storms she has been very good about letting her foster sister Nimah get all the attention due to Nimah’s storm anxiety; Quorra just lays down at my feet and waits her turn to be loved on.
Cat Test – B: She can go nose to nose with the cat and make no motion to hurt him but if the cat runs she will run after him if she is already up and playing. If Quorra is just relaxing and laying around then she just ignores as the cat walks or runs by. I don’t think she would hurt a cat and could learn not to chase the cat with some proper training. This is hard for me to do as my cat knows not to run in front of the dogs.
Play Time – A: Quorra likes to play with my Boxer Nimah, and run around the yard but she is also quite content just relaxing on the floor by my feet. She has shown to be submissive to my older alpha male and respects him as being top dog. She would do equally well with a family where she has a playmate or is an only dog. She has also met several small dogs at Petco and Petsmart and been ok with all of them but clearly wants to play with them.
Over All Grade is and A: Quorra will make a great pet for any family suited for a Boxer! She has so many wonderful qualities and although Quorra may not have that true well bred Boxer "look," do not let that turn you away or you'll be missing a truly great opportunity to be a pet parent to a fantastic dog!

I was originally found as a stray and spent time in a Florida shelter before coming to FBR. I am told I am a very sweet boy. Do you like my picture? Probably not, since I was clearly more interested in getting a treat and not so much about mugging for the camera. I got along with all the dogs at the shelter but we are not sure about cats yet.

Sasha is a fawn beauty, as you can see, and has such a sweet, playful and gentle spirit. Sasha came from a home with a small dog and child. She seems both puzzled and intrigued by the shenanigans of her foster Boxer brother and sister, too! She is being treated for a tummy condition, yet it does not seem to slow her down one bit. She is always ready to engage in play and runs like a gazelle, yet is happy to cuddle up with her foster mommy for a nap. Sasha is housetrained and crate trained and listens to her foster mommy, very well. She is unavailable at the moment, but please keep checking back with us. Sasha is one of those very special girls, who steals your heart immediately.
UPDATE 7/28/07: Sasha has been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis but is responding well to the treatment. She has unfortunately also recently developed pneumonia so her foster mom is devoting much time to her care. Sasha has an approved family waiting to adopt her when she is healthy enough. Her foster home thanks you for all the inquiries and encourages interested potential adopters to consider any of the other needy Boxers in our program.

Check back for more info on Malcolm!
UPDATE 7/14/07:
Hi, it's me Malcolm, with a little help from my foster Mom, Kelsey. Life is so good, I need shades!! Getting to my foster home was so exciting after that shelter, but unfortunately, I had to wait two weeks to really join the family as I was finishing my heartworm treatment and had to be crated. But just look at me now! I so love having a family. I'm living with three other Boxers ranging in age from 11 to 2! It's great having friends to play with, but I'd just be so happy to have a human to love me.
I got "cat tested," even though I didn't know what was going on. I tried to figure out what the really short furry buddy was, and it swatted at me, so I jumped back. My foster Mom figures I'd be good with one as a family member. Heck, I just love company.
I've been so good in my crate, and not one accident in the house either...I'm a Good Boy!!!! I'm a little leash challenged, but that's getting so much better now I'm out of that crate and my foster family is working on it with me. I have a natural tail, but it's just more of me to love and a way for me to show you how much I love you. So if you are looking for that really friendly, young, dog park kinda guy, I'm your boy!
Ok...now it's the foster Mom typing...try getting this boy away from finding his forever family...he's a computer hog. Malcolm is such a good dog, so good with other critters of all types. Someone is going to find an awesome family member! And p.s....he's so dang cute!!! Can tell you more if you call to ask. He's a joy to have as a foster.

Maggie and her "sister" Kansas (they are not littermates) had been with their most recent family for about six months but are now with FBR because their human felt she didn't have enough time for them. Maggie is a sweet, lovable girl who seems to get along with everyone. She has been "overindulged" and as a result, is a bit full-figured so she would enjoy nice long walks with her new family! Both Boxers know how to "sit," "stay," and walk on a leash very well. They are big mushes and love everyone. More to come as we get to know her better!
UPDATE 5/27/07: This lovable licker is ready for a forever home. Maggie is good with cats, kids, and other dogs! This former heavy weight has hit the bricks and dropped 17 pounds and now weighs in at a fit 67 lbs! Although Maggie is a relatively calm dog by Boxer standards, she still enjoys long walks and a good romp in the yard. She knows her basic commands, is crate trained, and is a joy on the leash. At 6 years old, Maggie is in her prime with lots of love yet to give - Will YOU be on the receiving end?

Comments from foster home:
Emma is such a sweetie-pie; her expressive little face says it all. She is so excited to greet people that she bounces, wiggles and does a bit of the twist! She settles down within a few minutes and is generally quite calm. Emma LOVES attention, treats, affection and going outside to play. One of her cutest smooth-moves was working her way into my lap so she could lay her head on my chest and gaze at me with her pretty brown eyes.
She is house-trained and doesn’t mind the crate at all. In fact, she goes in it sometimes just to take a snooze (ok, and to hunt for treats!). She’s taking antibiotics to clear up a nasty UTI, and had a few accidents in the house because of the UTI, but I’m sure that will stop when the infection clears. At first the poor girl didn’t know how to let me know when she needed to go out during the night as in her former home she had a doggie door. I am pleased to report that she now lets me know and out we go! She needs a little help at learning to walk on a leash without pulling, and not jumping when she’s excited, but that should be simple.
Emma, along with a fur-buddy, were surrendered by her human because he is terminally ill. She had lived with the same family since she was 6 weeks old and appears to have been much loved (not surprising, considering her lovely disposition). She seems to be adjusting incredibly well. Emma appears to have no problem with other dogs, children and meeting new people. She is not very vocal and doesn’t even bark when someone knocks on the door or rings the bell -- I’m afraid she might welcome a burglar if he was a dog-lover!!!
Emma would be a wonderful addition to any Boxer-worthy home, so long as you have a BIG heart --- because it will quickly fill up with love for her!!

Hi, my name is Crunch. I am an 5 year old 80 pound bundle of love! I have beautiful brown expressive eyes. I love to give licks and kisses and just love to be around people. I was raised with two children and just love kids too! I am still checking out my foster parents kitties (not quite sure what to do with them). I have not been around other dogs much and once again am unsure how to act around them. Some basic socializing and training will go a long way with me. I am eager to please. I was not used to being crated, but after my sister Zoe went in her crate (and after some tasty treats) I am crating fine.
I came into rescue with my beautiful sister Zoe. I have been with Zoe since I was brought home as a puppy. We have a strong bond and if at all possible I would love to be able to stay with her. I have not been socialized with other dogs and tend to be very vocal, so other dogs don't always like me when we first meet. I have been around kitties earlier in my life, but am getting used to my foster parent's kitties now.
I love people and children and get VERY excited when I first meet you. Zoe and I were left alone for two weeks in an empty apartment and only got let out once a day when my human came to check on us. We are both a little traumatized right now about being left, but we are getting better every day.

Madison is a reverse Brindle girl that has been used as a breeding machine. She is such a love. She is currently going through h/w treatment and then will be spayed and ready for her forever home. She is just so happy for anyone to show her attention. Please find it in your heart to give Madison the loving forever home she is way overdue.
UPDATE 6/27/07:
This is Madison's Foster Mom - Madison wanted me to give everyone an update ; - ) She went in for her spay recently and is doing great. She is free of those nasty heartworms and even got her teeth cleaned so she has a bright smile and clean bill of health. When at the vet's office, their house cat was walking around and Madison did not even give it a second look, so she'd probably be fine with one in her new home.
Madison LOVES women and would crawl up in your lap if allowed. She wanted me to remind everyone that she IS the perfect size for laps. We could tell Madison was not socialized much in her 6yrs so we have been trying to introduce her to many new things. She has just started showing an interest in toys and has actually began initiating play with her foster brother. It took her a few weeks but she now goes into her crate easily and hasn't had a potty accident since we figured out her schedule. Loud noises and quick movements seem to scare her. She is very timid around men and it takes a LONG time for her to approach them. Madison is very submissive and is the sweetest thing. She needs some work on the leash but does not pull (just has the Zig Zag's) as if the leash is something new to her. I really think Madison would like a calm home with a fur brother or sister to play with. This little girl will be the Apple of your Eye if you just give her a chance.

Comments from foster home:
What a
striking boy! Uno was found as a stray by an extremely generous and
kind-hearted couple. Searching for his family was unsuccessful, so
they turned him over to FBR, Inc. for placement in our program. He
is a typical, sweet, bouncy Boxer boy with lots of energy and will
do well with some basic training. Uno knows "sit," but no other
commands. He does walk pretty well on a leash, when he isn't
distracted. We will work on these things. He is getting along well
with our Boxer girl, but he is much too "interested" in our cats so
far. Uno seems to be housebroken and is doing very
well with his crate training. He is not food aggressive, shows no
evidence of separation anxiety and rides well in the car. He loves
water - sprinklers, baths and fountains! We can't wait to get him in
the pool! Uno needs to be neutered before he is available for
adoption, so please check back for updates and availability.

Comments from foster home:
Duke is a very sweet boy and one of the most beautiful fawn Boxers I have ever seen. He is uneasy and a little scared right now due to being surrendered to us by his humans. Duque has three foster siblings: a sister and two brothers. He did come from a home with a small dog, and seems overwhelmed by the size of his siblings and doesn't quite understand their way of Boxer play. He potties well outside and is learning how to use the doggie door. Duque seems to be crate-trained, although I believe his humans kept him outside (this is never appropriate for a Boxer)!!! He knows how to sit and seems to know lie down. One important thing: Duke is going to be learning English 101, as his primary language is Spanish. This is our first night together, so more to come as he adjusts to his new surroundings.
UPDATE 7/6/07:
Hey folks, Duke here. Ya'll can call me Sheriff... There's a new
one in town. As you can see, I wear my star proudly on my chest
here. I wanted to share with ya'll how my stay here in Mayberry is
going so far. Yep, you guessed it, that's my other idol, Deputy
Barney Fife. I tell my foster mom my first arrest is gonna be my
foster brother Moose, a/k/a Ernest T. Bass. You would understand
that if you met him. My mom says my personality is more like ole
Barney's, especially when I get over my shyness; I'm a regular
"nut," she says.
Since I stayed outside for most of my life until now, I'm a lil'
skeert of all the goings-on inside of a house - like smells and
furnishings and that contraption my mom gets in that gets her all
wet. Mom tells me when anyone wears the "star" like I do, that I
ain't got no reason to be skeert. The dog door, welp, that's not a
problem anymore. And my crate, welp, I really like it; I even go in
it when Mom doesn't even tell me to go in it. I know how to sit,
and almost got the "lay down" part down. Mom says for my English
being a lil' rusty, I catch on real fast. I'm learning "come"
too, 'cuz Mom uses hand signals when she says it. Oh, and 'cuz I am
still getting used to being around dawgs my size (I had one of those
itty-bitty guys as a brother before), well, I tend to come off a
little -- Mom calls it "rough around the edges." When I do my growl
thing and she says "HEY!!!" or "NO!!!" well, you guessed it. I stop
immediately and walk away.
Oh, and when I get excited, like when Mom first gets home, I do jump
a lil', but I'm gentle. Mom is saying I can't do that, but
sometimes I fergit, so her and I are coming to an understanding. I
am just learning how to talk differently now. Mom says even though
my brother Pacey gets really, really loud, it's 'cuz he ain't
hearing nothin' in both ears so he don't know no better. I love my
brother Pacey. We just chase each other around and like to chew on
each other and wrestle when we're together, and play tug-of-war with
the toys. Kyra, my sister, she's let me know more than once she's
the princess in the house. Welp, folks, I thank ya for stopping
by. And I can tell ya that even though I'm the new sheriff in town,
I'm just a big 'ole goofy lap dog that wants to be loved and to

Rudy is a great dog! He does a fantastic job around children. He would probably do best in a home that did not have an alpha dog. Rudy has been to the dog park and did well with dogs there. He LOVES our male dog; they are the best of friends. I don't think he would do well with cats due to his reactions to squirrels and possums, etc...I think Rudy would do best in a home with a submissive dog, children, and someone who can give him lots of attention. He is a big baby and eats it up!

Bianca is a sweet young Boxer without hearing. She is crate trained and is working on potty training 101. Bianca is a quick learner and already knows sign language for "Sit" and "Good Girl." She will require a home with a fenced yard for playtime and a brother or sister so she can take cues from him or her. Check back for more info on Bianca.

Hi there! My name is Daisy May and if you give me a chance, I will grow like a flower in your heart! I am not just another pretty face, either. I am a cuddler, a wiggle butt and I am smart, too! I know "sit" and "down," am crate trained and housebroken, and I LOVE to swim in the pool! I would also like to add that in my former home, I had an older fur sister and a cat that I loved to share my crate with for "cat naps." I am such a sweet girl and I miss having a family of my own, so won't you please come on over and take me home...FURever...please????

Harriet is second from the right in the group picture
Comments from foster home: Harriet is a pretty brindle girl, who has mastered the infamous "Boxer Wiggle." She was rescued from a very neglectful situation; however, the rescuer was unable to keep her himself. Harriet was formerly kept outside with two other dogs and from what we can ascertain thus far, she has had little human contact. She is obviously very much enjoying the love and care being lavished upon her currently by the veterinary staff! Harriet is in desperate need of a foster home while she undergoes heartworm treatment, so she can learn about the comfort and safety all dogs deserve. Please consider fostering this special girl and help her get ready for her forever family!
UPDATE 5/8/07:
Hi, my name is
Harriet, but my foster mom calls me "Grace."
She also calls me
"Wiggles & Jiggles," 'cuz I can't and haven't stopped shaking my butt
since I got here!
I was real scared at first when
I came to my foster home from a very long stay at the vet's office. I
growled a little at first when I met my foster Boxer siblings but Mom
kept saying "no," so I stopped immediately. I also had no idea what that
dog door contraption was, but after watching my brothers and sister use
it, I know exactly what it is for now; it gets me from A to B and B to A
with ease.
I can "sit," "lie down," and
"come." I will admit, Mom is so patient with me when I am afraid to
come sometimes. She says, "Come. Come. Good girl. Come. Come..."
And then when I do make it to her, she gives me a great big hug, lots of
kisses, and says, "Good girl for coming!"
This is so different than where
I came from. Life is GREAT. I am still trying to learn to play with my
two brothers and sister, though. I pounce back and forth and growl to
get them to play. Right now, though, they just look at me like I'm some
kind of alien.
Mom says I am a perfect dog.
She is so thankful I don't have this thing called "separation anxiety,"
'cuz she doesn't like coming home to those kinds of surprises. She
doesn't crate me and says I'm a wonderful girl and so much better
behaved than my foster brothers and sister who she doesn't crate either,
but under her breath, she said she should (lol).
I do like the companionship of
my brothers and sister, especially when Mom isn't home. I love
LOTS of kisses, hugs and attention. I am very calm and, well, at
peace. I like laying at my mom's feet or nearby her. Oh, by the way,
she lets me sleep on the bed. All four of us start out on the bed with
her and Mom says she is glad I'm here 'cuz now when she wakes up, just
my sister and I are on the bed with her. I guess it gets too crowded
for my brothers so they jump off sometime during the night. Besides,
only girls should be allowed on the bed anyway; boys belong on the
floor...
Mom says it's going to be tough
letting me go IF she decides to let me go. She has promised me that IF
she lets someone adopt me, that they have to be very, very special, 'cuz,
otherwise, she ain't letting me go nowhere! If you think you've got
what it takes to give me a loving, permanent home, please apply and come
to meet me!

Comments from foster home:
Hi there - my name is Gabe and I am a gentle giant. I love to ride in the car. I was not kept in an
appropriate environment before coming to rescue, so all I really want is a loving forever home. FYI...I give tons of kisses and think I am a lap dog!
I am a handsome boy says my foster mom, but I
suffer from separation anxiety (my foster family has noticed I do much better in a crate when I can see my foster sister). I would love someone
who is a stay at home mom or maybe a retired couple
to cuddle with and give kisses 24/7. I get along
with cats and like some dogs. I have a foster sister who I like and I think
she likes me too but she won't let on that she does ;- )
I will jump a fence and chew a little but that is only
when I am trying to find you or I am left alone too long
and get bored/stressed.
Thanks for listening to my story. So, do you think
you could be my forever family?

BB (short for Busy Body) is a beautiful Brindle boy that desperately needs a loving home. His former caregivers rescued him 6 weeks ago, after he was abandoned, but were unable to provide ongoing care for a leg injury. BB enjoys the company of dogs and children. He knows "sit, "stay" and "wait," too! He is housebroken and crate trained, but has jumped a fence or two in the past. More to come on this sweet boy, once BB settles into a foster home after his vetting is complete.

Misty is a very sweet Boxer
girl who seems to love everyone she
meets. She will need to complete treatment for heartworms before
she
is ready for adoption. More to come on Misty as we get to know
her.
UPDATE 6/22/07:
"Missy is fully recovered from her vetting (hookworm and heartworm treatments) and eagerly awaits a chance at a full time forever home. She is a beautiful young fawn with the softest puppy coat you have ever felt. They say she is between 2 and 3, but she looks and acts about 18 months. She is the most inquisitive and happy little girl. She just loves to crawl up in your lap and cuddle, and she actually enjoys watching TV. Misty is happy in a crate and is an eager eater on regular chicken and rice kibble. She has already put back the weight she lost during the vetting and is a bouncing and healthy 45 pounds. She loves long walks and is interested in anything that moves. Misty loves to play with other dogs, especially her big brother in Boxer play. She will brighten any Boxer approved home that is lucky enough to get her."
UPDATE 8/4/07: Missy was recently adopted but has been returned to rescue as the placement proved to be a mismatch. She is currently being boarded in a facility until a foster home can be found for her. If you can help us, please let us know.

Sakura has a cleft lip
Comments from foster home:
This little girl was found abandoned, TIED TO A TREE.
Sakura is scared right now (as you can tell from her picture), but warms up quickly and gives
Boxer wiggles and kisses. She needs to gain much needed weight
and be treated for heartworms.
This little girl deserves a chance at happiness and to be treated like a real member of someone's family. More info to come.

Comments from foster home:
Hi, my name is Jasmine and just like the flower I am pretty and ohhhh so sweet! I'm a true check Boxer and am living in my new foster home with 2 foster siblings and just love them to death, but to be honest I love my foster parents even more. I do not get testy when people or furry friends come near my food; I am just happy to be getting a meal at all. As you can tell, I'm a little on the skinny side but my foster mom says just wait and see how pretty I'll be with a little meat on my bones. She also say's that the markings on one of my eyes makes me look a little like someone from KISS! Not sure what that means, but I know I LOVE KISSES!
Well, got to go for now- we are on our way for our daily walk and
I am learning the "lady like" way to act on a leash. I guess you
could say I will soon be a total beautiful package.
Could I be the canine companion you have always been hoping
for? Keep following my story; there will be more to write about
when my foster family learns a more about me.
UPDATE 5/9/07: Jasmine seemed a bit too fixated on a
cat at the vet's office, so to be on the safe side, we do not
recommend her to a home with a cat. The foster home will continue
to observe her around other dogs. Sometimes she seems to want all
the human attention for herself. More to come.

Hi. Day Day here. Aren't I unique looking? Yep, I'd probably be considered a check Boxer. I am told I'm a very good boy- a mama's boy to be exact. I am scared of loud noises but am generally very laid back. I would
love to have a fur brother or sister to play with. I also love to go for car rides and enjoy being a couch tater. Won't you put my name on your application to adopt?

If you have a big yard for playtime and some kids, this is the boy for you. Just think - they can wear each other out! More to come when we get to know Parse a little better.

WOW!!!!! Just take a look at me! I am one of the prettiest brindle Boxer girls ever (even if I do say so myself)! The nice ladies that chauffeured me around today said I am soooo sweet and gentle, I didn't even hurt the cat at the vet's office. All I want is LOVE. I can "sit," "lie down," "shake hands" and walk really well on a leash. Right now I am being tested for a skin allergy (even diamonds have small flaws) then need to be spayed but after that I should be ready to go to my new forever home. Will you be the lucky family to take me home? Watch out, I guarantee that you will fall in love with me the first time we meet.
