Update 9/23/10: Lulu has had a bump in the road. She had a false negative test for Heartworms and a follow-up test proved it to be wrong. So she has started Heartworm treatment and will not be available for several weeks. Lulu has a heart of gold and is a great example of enjoying life no matter what struggles you have to get through. She continues to wiggle and kiss her foster mom even though we know she doesn't feel well.
Update 6/11/10: Miss Lulu had her radio debut today on 106.5 CTQ Sarasota-Bradenton's Country station! She was featured on Heidi's Hounds, sponsored by K9 Korral Dog Training & Supply Center in Sarasota to help her find a forever home. Click here for the interview, pics and video!
Update 5/31/10: From Lulu: I am a petite, sweet little lady
who has Boxer energy but I also enjoy quiet time snuggled up with you and getting lots of loving.
: I’ve lead an interesting life, including having puppies, roaming the neighborhood to fend for myself and then being cared for by a kind elderly lady who read the bible to me while I slept in her lap. Sadly, she wasn’t able to continue to care for me and her children called FBR to help.
My Foster Mom says to tell you I tend to get bored and into mischief if I am not kenneled when she’s gone, but that’s ok because I’m crate trained. I also do best if I have a laid back male doggie companion to keep me company but no cats for me! I love going on walks and am learning not to pull on the leash. I also love to play tug with my toys with both four-legged and two-legged friends.
You need to know I have be diagnosed with a genetic deformity. My kidney has microscopic holes in it which allows bacteria to seep in. If I eat the wrong things, it sets me up for an infection. I’m eating a low protein food (Hills KD) and take an antibiotic twice a week that my Foster Mom gets free from Publix. I've been on this regimen for several months now and I’m doing great! I've gained weight, have plenty of energy and am just loving life! It is very important that I stay on this regimen all my life.
Did I mention I have all the love a heart can give? I promise you I will be the most wonderful companion ever! If you are a patient, loving soul that is willing to take the time to help me be the Boxer I was born to be, then please, please come meet me! It will be a match made in heaven with years and years of love, fun and exciting adventures.
Every FBR Volunteer who has had the chance to meet me says the same thing "Lulu is one of the sweetest Boxers I've ever met", so if you have room in your home and want a sweet little girl, please fill out an adoption application and ask for info on Lulu.
