Gender: Female
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 45 pounds
Dogs: Unknown
Cats: Yes
Kids: Yes

FBR#: F10-132

Comments: 7/19/10: Hi, I'm Raquel and I am a good girl! I'm housetrained, but not crate trained. I know how to walk good on a leash. I like some dogs, but I really prefer smaller dogs...oh, and I like cats and kids.

Raquel is a kind little girl. More to come about her once she is in a foster home.

Dice

Age: 5 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Flashy fawn
Weight: 59 pounds
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Yes
Contact: Sandy C
FBR#: F10-123

Comments: Update 7/14/10: Dice is a wonderful boy who does not jump. He knows the commands for sit, down, and paw!! He is very attentive, and polite; he sits and waits to go outside and is excellent on a leash. Dice is learning his crate and goes in with a cookie or his food but does not need it. He would do good in a home with another companion big or small as he has lived with a smaller dog before.

See my new pictures! Inside snoozing or resting in the sunshine....I'm one good-looking fellow.

7/6/10: Dice has just gotten to his foster home; more to come as we get to know this boy.

FBR#: F09-194

Comments: Update 6/15/10: Rio's on a mission: she wants her fur-ever home!! Is she persnickety? Persnickety as defined by Webster's is overparticular; fussy. Yes, she is. But a girl can be particular when picking her friends can't she? Rio met a 2-year-old male boxer and they were instant friends; she even shared her food and water with him. However, she's not like that with every dog she meets. She's been friends with an American Bulldog and a Chihuahua, but not so much with a German Shephard puppy and a Great Dane.

If you have another dog, please give Rio a chance and ask about setting up a meeting. If you don't have any other dogs, Rio is an excellent human companion. She's calm in the house, completely house-trained and used to being crated 8-9 hours a day. She'd love to go on daily walks or runs with you and we all need that exercise-buddy don't we?

Rio's waiting to hear from you so please call soon!

Dogs: Yes
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Yes
Contact: Janet G
FBR#: F10-089

Comments: Update 5/20/10: Osha is a very sweet boy who is learning to sit and stay on command. He will be starting his heartworm treatment this Wednesday. The staff at the vets office says he is real sweet - which we already knew!

5/18/10: Osha came out of Lee County today. He is super skinny but is so sweet... and a leaner. He rode great in the crate and slept during the two hour trip. He will be learning leash walking 101. Osha will be going thru heartworm treatment soon and hopefully will put on some much need weight. He wagged his little nub and gave kisses.
More to come from his foster home once he settles in.

Comments: 3/30/10: ChuCho was surrendered at Animal Control with his sister Roxy. They absolutely adore each other. Both are two of the friendliest dogs I have ever met. I have no doubt they would like other dogs, and though they have not been around kids, I would think they would be fine. Unfortunately, they both have heartworms and a severe case of mange.

Comments: 4/16/10: Hello everyone! My name is Libby. I am one energetic little boxer girl. Before I joined Florida Boxer Rescue, my original family left me in a crate after they moved. When Animal Control found me I was malnourished and dehydrated. Thankfully they saved me just in time and now all I need is a little weight and you'd never know about my previous life! My new friends at FBR say I need some basic training. I know "sit," but I can learn so much more if you teach me! I liked all the dogs at the vet's office when I was there and I wanted to give the kids I met kisses. I'm probably a little too hyper for smaller children, though. Not sure I know what a cat is, but if I meet one I'll be sure to report back to ya. Other than that, I'm ready to go! I was just spayed so all I need is a foster home, or even better, a furever home! Come meet me and I'm sure I'll win you over!

Comments: Update 3/30/10: I now have a wonderful foster home with a boxer brother to play with. The nice lady who took me to my foster said I am wonderful! beautiful! and very well trained! She said that I am very laid back (whatever that means). My owners had to give up all of their canine companions, so I have lost my little bullie brother as well. I was told that I am great with little kids, leave cats alone, and get along with most everyone, even other dogs. I will have to be vetted soon, but then I will be ready for my new home. Would you like an older brother for your kids or companion animals? I'm your boy!

3/17/10: Chopper is a handsome big boy who is losing his home after 7 years. He is crate trained, has had obendience training, and walks well on a leash. Chopper is good with dogs, except small dogs, but he does like cats and small children. More to come on this handsome boy when he finds a foster home.

Weight: 70 pounds
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Yes
Contact: Sandy C
FBR#: OS10-009

Comments: 6/4/10: Hi, Casper here. I am an energetic boxer who could really use a companion. I enjoy the company of dogs of all sizes and need a home that already has one. I'm deaf and able to understand basic sign language; sit, paw, lie down, and speak. I struggle at times being alone, which may require that my new owner spends a lot of time with me at first. I know with your help and hard work, I can become completely obedient. What I really enjoy is going for a walk or run, or going to the dog park to play with other dogs. I play really well with kids, but might not be best for homes with real small children as I'm very energetic. I can't wait to meet my new owner. Please feel free to bring any other dogs when visiting me so I can get to know them too.

Comments: Update 7/5/10: Dixie Belle has been spayed and will be starting heartworm treatment.

4/13/10: Dixie Belle is a very sick little girl who was found with her collar embedded into her neck. She is heavy heartworm positive, is suffering from an infection from the wound on her neck, and only weights 32 pounds.

Dixie Belle will not be available for several months.

Boxer Slurps to Chuck Linker for his generous donation toward Dixie Belle's medical care.

Comments: 2/24/10: This sweet Boxer boy has won the hearts of everyone who has had the good fortune to meet him since he came into rescue. He is very calm by nature - one of those that whatever you want to do is fine with him. We have listed unknown with cats, but when he was taken into the cat room for his pedicure before leaving animal control, he did not seem to show any interest in them. Dempsey loves to go for car rides. He does have scarring on his back but the wounds are old and do not bother him in the least. Dempsey is heartworm positive. He does not have other dogs in his new foster home, but during his sleepover during his transfer, he was fantastic with the resident Boxer boy and girl.

Comments: Update 5/12/10: Jin is simply a joy. Look how happy she was to go for a walk and get some treats (top picture). Great attitude. She sits before you can get the word out of your mouth!

4/28/10: I have a "New Leash on Life"! FBR came to my rescue today. My name is Jin and let me tell you a little about me. My story is sad like some of the other FBR boxers; I was bred many times just to have puppies to make money for my owner. I used to have a beautiful shape and nothing sagging, but now I am skinny and need to put on 20 pounds or more. If you saw the pictures of me, you would cry. I look like some of those animal cruelty cases. I always had to be on the defensive side and defend myself. FBR has promised to make me beautiful again and find me a loving home. I can't wait. Please think of me. Thank you!

Comments: 3/15/10: Hello, my name is Sugar Ray. I am new around here and arrived at my foster mom's house a few days ago. I hopped up into the back seat and curled up nice and quiet. Once we got home I met the resident dogs and my skin teen siblings. My foster mom gave me a nice bath, it felt great and I walked around proud and handsome. I met my fur sisters and man are they fun. That Luna (my 2-year-old fur sister) loves to play with me; in fact, that's how my foster parents gave me my name. I have this great play right hook, she didn't even see it coming. I know I'm a boxer but my foster mom said she's never seen a right hook on a dog. We have been playing and having fun. I greet my family without jumping on them, but if you let me I'm on your lap in a quick minute to curl up and snuggle. [more]

Comments: 6/1/10: Hi Garza here! Boy what a day. I got picked up from Manatee County Animal Shelter and was met by another lady who took me far up to my new foster home. I am shy right now until I get to know you. I was so uncomfortable today and the ladies tried helping me by giving me a capstar to kill my fleas. We had to stop again because they were so bad, but my new foster home gave me a bath and the fleas are all gone. Yahooo - do I feel alive again. I have a bed, food, toys and a new life.

Peoples - remember flea and tick and heartworm prevention can prevent alot of heartache.

Comments: Update 10/13/09: Foster Mom here. Buddy has been with us for a week now and has settled in very well. Buddy is such an affectionate and loving boxer and loves to give lots of kisses. He loves to be close to you and is happy following me around the house and will even wake from a nap to come find me. (We have nicknamed him shadow.)

Buddy is deaf, but he is also very smart and can understand some hand commands for sit, hug and get down. Being deaf, storms and fireworks are no problem and I can hoover while he naps without waking him. He is great with my 2 children, ages 7 and 6, and will come upstairs with me when I put them to bed so he can give goodnight kisses. [more]
