This Web site is updated every day with new information about our dogs. Please do not email us or call our phone number to ask for 'more information' about dogs that interest you. Whatever we know about the dog is posted here. We receive about 20 - 50 emails and calls every day. It's impossible for our volunteers to work, take care of the Boxers AND answer all general inquiries that come in. You must be an approved applicant to visit a dog or contact a foster home. This is for the safety of our dogs and foster families. Click here to learn more about the adoption process.

Apollo

Age: 2-3 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: White
Weight: 71 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Ok
Contact: Veronica J
FBR#: F10-017

Comments: 1/22/10: Apollo is a BIG sweetheart, but a little confused at the moment. His first guardian passed away about 5 months ago. Then a nice girl working at a vets office took him in, had him neutered and treated for Heartworms, but now can't keep him in her apartment. Apollo can't hear, but he does understand basic hand commands. He is house, crate and leash trained. He loves to run and play with other dogs and go for car rides!! Apollo's ideal home will have another dog and no small children, as they can easily startle him due to his deafness. Look at those eyes...pleading to go to a real home, with a family to love and take care of him forever.

Buddy
Age: 2.5 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: White
Weight: 55 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: No
Kids: Ok
Contact: Iris M
FBR#: F08-200ra

Comments: Update 10/13/09: Foster Mom here. Buddy has been with us for a week now and has settled in very well. Buddy is such an affectionate and loving boxer and loves to give lots of kisses. He loves to be close to you and is happy following me around the house and will even wake from a nap to come find me. (We have nicknamed him shadow.)

Buddy is deaf, but he is also very smart and can understand some hand commands for sit, hug and get down. Being deaf, storms and fireworks are no problem and I can hoover while he naps without waking him. He is great with my 2 children, ages 7 and 6, and will come upstairs with me when I put them to bed so he can give goodnight kisses. [more]

Buster

Weight: 40 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Ok
Contact: Angie K
FBR#: F10-021

Comments: Update 2/2/10: Buster went to vet today; turns out he has kennel cough. He was put on medication and the vet gave him a deworming dose as well. Buster is still having some potty accidents inside, but trying hard :)

2/1/10: I really like my new home. It is way WAY better than that shelter I was in. I'm a pretty easy going guy; I generally go with the flow. I liked the car ride to Sarasota from Lakeland... I slept pretty much the whole way. I get along really well with other dogs. I like my new siblings at my foster home, Trixie and Tank, who wrestle a lot. I try to wrestle with them, but since I was just fixed my foster parents will only let me play for a little at a time until my incision heals.[more]

Dakota (aka Jameson)
Age: 11 months
Gender: Male
Coloring: Brindle
Weight: 56 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Ok
Contact: Sandy C
FBR#: F09-141rb
Comments: 1/8/10: Dakota is back in the building! He has finished "Doggie Bootcamp" and is ready for his forever home. Dakota is a young boy who needs a strong pack leader so as not to reverse the training he has had. He is very well behaved and will not jump at the door, he sits for his treats, and he walks very well on a leash. Dakota is potty and crate trained, and as long as his training is reinforced this will continue. He plays well with our resident boxers who are seniors, and knows when to stop. I believe he will do best in a home with another boxer as he follows my male around. I also believe with the right introduction he should do well with a cat; I do not own one but he shows only curosity towards the cats he sees own our walks; basically he looks at them and walks away. He will make a great addition to any family and he has the cutest kidney bean wiggle--his whole body shakes !! [more]

Dakota Mae

Age: 1.5 years
Gender: Female
Coloring: Brindle
Weight: 56 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Unknown
Contact: Renee S
FBR#: F10-019

Comments: 2/1/10: Dakota is a young energetic boxer with no 'cosmetic surgery!' In other words, she has a natural tail that curls at the end when she walks around the yard exploring. She gets along with her boxer brother and one boxer sister. She seems to be submissive at this point to other dogs. We are still getting to know her and will keep you posted.

Dalton

Age: 5 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 48 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Unknown
Contact: Samantha S
FBR#: F09-164

Comments: Update 1/22/10: I was in such bad shape when FBR pulled me in, but now I AM HEALTHY AS A HORSE! If you are looking for a laid back, gorgeous Boxer boy, then I am your man. I like to play outside with my skin brothers and enjoy nice walks too. Won't you come visit me?

Update 10/10/09: Dalton is doing well; he has put on least 10 pounds. We gave him his last treatment for hookworm this week. Dalton will be scheduled for the heartworm and other treatments as he puts on weight. We haven't been able to excercise him too much yet, but he is steadily improving. We will update you as his condition improves and his doctor visits are complete. [more]

Dexter II

Age: 3.5 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 62 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: Ok
Kids: Ok
Contact: Veronica J
FBR#: F09-165

Comments: Update 1/10/10: Dexter has had his allergy blood test and based on those results, we know the kind of home that would be best for him. Is this your home?

Dexter needs a non-smoking home with no carpet, just wood, tile or other non-dust collecting hard surfaces. There shouldn't be a lot of knick-knacks and/or stuffed animals that retain dust. His yard should be St. Augustine grass with no Pine or Palm trees. His life-long diet should be grain-free. Dexter is going to see another vet to determine what type of maintenance meds he requires to keep his allergies under control forever. Dexter does great living with a small dog and a cat. He didn't do as well meeting another Boxer and a Mastiff but possibly could with the proper introduction.

Dexter is a sweet, obedient boy that requires no training--just move him right in. Please apply if you can provide Dexter a good home.

Comments: 11/23/09: Found as a stray, Dominic has had a rough life lately. He is very skinny and suffering the ill effects of never being neutered. Dominic still laughs at life and seeks the company of people and other dogs. More to come when his foster family gets to know him.

Comments: Update 1/20/10: Hi everyone, my name is Dude. Pretty cool name, huh? I like it. So I will be quick and tell you about me. I have a baby, you can see it in my picture, everyone wants pictures of me when I have it. I like the cat my foster family has; I used to live with another Boxer, but he passed away. Foster Mom says I am going to meet a Boxer girl this weekend, I was told she is really nice. Foster Mom and Dad take me to the store a lot and I am a very good boy, I walk right next to them, when they stop, so do I. When the want to go, they just say "follow" and I follow them. As long as I can go, I'm good.

Foster Mom here. Dude is so quiet, he has been here for 5 days and he has not barked. [more]

Comments: 1/17/10: Check out my new pictures! I'm cute, right? Don't ya just love stretching out on the couch on a lazy afternoon?

12/31/09: Edgar is a big goofy sweetheart. He had kisses for everyone he met and rode beautifully in the car. He definately did NOT like the cats at the vets office. However, while I have not seen him around kids or other dogs, I have a feeliing he would do just fine. Do you have a place for the SWEETEST BOXER I HAVE PICKED UP ALL YEAR? [more]

Elvis

Age: 4 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: White
Weight: 80 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: Ok
Kids: Older
Contact: Sandra F
FBR#: F09-152

Comments: Update 1/11/10: Elvis has very little hearing. He can hear certain pitches like the food hitting the stainless steel bowl or certain higher pitch sounds.

He is good with other dogs big and small. Elvis is also good with kids but should be placed in a home with no or older kids as he does startle when someone approaches from behind while he's eating. He's a big boy so he needs someone strong to handle him as far as walking, etc. He loves to play with his Boxer pals and was very sweet with me even when my face was right next to his.

Elvis is through with his heartworm treatment, so he's ready to go to his forever home! [more]

Age: 4-5 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 65 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: Ok
Kids: Unknown
Contact: Amanda P
FBR#: F09-187

Comments: 11/14/09:Hey guys. My name is Hercules and I'm a little nervous right now. My family lost their home and had to move back to New York. My Boston Terrier brother and I were left behind. By a stroke of luck I made it to Florida Boxer Rescue. So, I'm with people I don't know in a place I've never been. My new friends tell me it's only natural to be a little nervous.

I have heartworms so I'll need to be treated for those, but not for a month because I just got neutered. I need to find a foster home in a calm environment so that I can relax and get better. Right now it's kinda hard to relax so I'm hoping to get settled in a foster home really soon. [more]

See my very own video!!

Comments: Update 12/12/09: Jake is the easiest dog to take care of. He just likes to hang out with me or he is just fine with his foster siblings. It really does not matter to him. I have put away Jake's crate, he either just sleeps on his bed or mine. He has full run of the house all the time. Jake is no problem at all. He does love attention and hugs and loves to give big boxer kisses. Jake does require some meds, but is a healthy and happy boy.

Update 6/3/09: Hello, this is Jake! Did you check out my new video? I am the star of the show. I would love to be in your family video too. [more]

Age: 1.5 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Flashy fawn
Weight: 74 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Ok
Contact: Sandy C
FBR#: F09-195

Comments: 11/17/09: Hi, my foster mom calls me Jasper or sometimes "puppy". I used to have another name, but I like this new one and I come when she tells me to. I've had a couple of homes before now and I really like it when I can live inside the house. I tried the "outside" living and I had to jump the fence to go look around...and that got me into trouble.

I like to run fast! I've made a great track around my foster mom's back yard - whew - watch me go! My foster mom says I run like a greyhound, whatever that is. I would love to have a family that would take me for a run every day. I have lots of puppy energy. [more]

Contact: Laura S
FBR#: F10-010

Comments: 1/18/10: I made it out of that awful shelter and, after several hours of traveling, I went to a wonderful family who has a beautiful boxer girl, a small mix boy, 2 cats and 7 horses. They have all welcomed me with open arms. I got so excited that I rolled on my back in the grass and twisted like the shepherd in the movie K-9 and sang 'I Feel Good'. I have a scar around my neck that shows how I had a collar embedded, but it's healed. I also have several scrapes that looks like I escaped some bad place as my mouth has a blister and a few teeth are missing. But I love my new foster family and all their critters and know life will be good from here on out.

More to come as my sweet, good manners come out to show everyone how great I really am!

Kids: Ok
Contact: Veronica J
FBR#: F07-021ra

Comments: Update 12/25/09: Hi! My name is Kansas...on a rainy day, two weeks ago, I came to my new foster home. My foster mom gives me so much love and all I do is wag my tail....and I even smile at her, she thinks that is soooo special! Right now I cannot go on any long walks because I have arthritis in my back and my left leg, but I am taking lots of things to make me feel better. That's what happens to us when we get older, at least that's what my foster mom says! I am hoping to lose some weight once I can take long walks again because that would help me feel better too. At my new house there is a elderly Persian cat and we get along just fine; I want to play with him but he just doesn't feel like it, so I play with my toys and with my foster mom. [more]

Lando

Age: 14 months
Gender: Male
Coloring: Flashy fawn
Weight: 61 pounds
Dogs: Unknown
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Ok
Contact: Veronica J
FBR#: F10-020

Comments: 2/1/10: Lando was an owner surrender. We do not know why, but his owners say he loves kids and car rides and is housebroken. Lando will need some brush up on his leash manners and to learn the word "NO". He is a beautiful boy. We were told he is very shy and timid. However, I can honestly say he is not. He was a lap dog from the time we left Polk County and gave plenty of kisses and hugs to all the humans he met. He is ready for adoption now, but I can say he needs TLC as he loves being with his humans. For the record, Lando is not a backseat driver; he likes it up front, close and personal. Please, do you have room in your heart to adopt this boy.

Lulu

Age: 2-3 years
Gender: Female
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 43 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: No
Kids: Ok
Contact: Lori K
FBR#: F09-151ra

Comments: Update 1/11/10: Lulu has been seeing a specialist for some kidney Issues. Her kidneys are not processing protein correctly so she needs to be kept on special food. Lulu went for another check up and is doing well. She gained 3.3 pounds and her protein levels were good. She has been maintaining this for over a month and although Lulu will never be cured, the vet feels that as long as she is kept on the special food she will continue to gain weight and maintain good levels. Lulu doesn't know she has a problem and plays with her much larger boxer foster brother and will even try to get his attention on walks by grabbing his leash.
Every volunteer who has had the chance to meet Lulu says the same thing "Lulu is one of the sweetest Boxers I've ever met" So if you have room in your home and want a sweet little girl to take care of, please fill out an adoption application and ask for info on Lulu. [more]

Age: 3.5 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Flashy fawn
Weight: 85 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Unknown
Contact: Marilynette
FBR#: F10-014

Comments: 1/20/10: Hey Max here! I started my life like a dream with a family that loved me, gave me a name and taught me how to live in a home. Somewhere along the way they must have stopped loving me because I was forced to live tied up outside, which explains why my hair is worn off in a few spots, but don’t worry, it’s quickly growing back. Thankfully I escaped and was found roaming the streets of Lake County to be rescued by FBR. Foster mom and dad named me Maximus “Max” because they say I’m just a big teddy bear. I don’t know about the bear thing, but I am a very chill guy who just wants to cuddle. I get along well with other dogs and even 9-month-old babies! I was very gentle with foster mom’s nephew! Walks are great, but sometimes I get excited when I see a squirrel, so I need to practice my leash manners. I love car rides, and don’t need a crate when left alone. If you are ready for a laidback boy to cuddle and love, I’m your man.

Kids: Unknown
Contact: Amanda P
FBR#: F09-211

Comments: 1/22/10: Hello everyone! It's been a while since I last updated you on how I'm doing in my new foster home. After a few trips to the vet and the support of FBR, I'm feeling great! I have what's called diabetes insipidus. It sounds scarier than it is, I promise. Basically, I don't produce enough of a hormone so I'm always thirsty, which makes me have to go potty a lot. So, the doctors gave my foster mom medicine to put in my eye, which helps me not be so thirsty or have to go potty as much. I've been on the medicine for about two weeks now and I feel great! I also have a little arthritis in my back left hip, but when I take my vitamins and medicine you'd never know it! I love to wiggle and kiss and cuddle. I am an older guy so I don't chew up your stuff, I don't need a lot of exercise, and I'm very relaxed. [more]

Missy

Age: 6 years
Gender: Feale
Coloring: Brindle
Weight: 50 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: Ok
Kids: Unknown
Contact: Kelly B
FBR#: F10-013

Comments: 1/20/10: Missy is a very loving and playful Boxer. She is 6 years old but still acts like a puppy:) She plays ball with her foster brother and sister, will give you her paw, and knows how to sit and catch treats. Missy loves to be near people but will not get on the couch or bed. She is crate trained but does love to be given treats as an award to go inside:) If a man starts to play with her and then stops, Missy runs up to him and tugs his pant legs to get his attention so he'll continue to play! It is so funny:) Missy will be starting heartworm treatment soon.

Missy is on the left in both pictures.

Missy seems to be adjusting well to being part of a family. Will you be her FOREVER family?? She hopes so!

Punkin

Age: 3 years
Gender: Female
Coloring: White
Weight: 50 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: No
Kids: Ok
Contact: Samantha S
FBR#: F09-176

Comments: Update 11/12/09: Punkin has blossomed in her foster home. She LOVES attention and gets tons from her foster dad and Boxer brothers. She is deaf and has learned some hand signals. Her foster dad reports she is extremely smart...and a big cuddler! Do you have room in your heart and home for a special needs girl like her?

10/13/09: Punkin is a non-hearing boxer who needs a new home due to her current owners financial situation. Punkin is housetrained, crate trained and walks on a leash well. Her best friend is a Basenji mix whom she adores. They do everything together, including sleep in the same crate. Punkin knows some hand signals, and has free roam of the house when the owner is gone. Punkin will need to be placed with another dog due to her deafness.

Gender: Male
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 62 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: No
Kids: Ok (older 8+)
Contact: Claire G
FBR#: F09-065ra

Comments: Update 12/16/09: Rex is a very special boy and is doing wonderful in his foster home. Rex is energetic and has a lot of love to give, but he needs the right furever home. Rex had separation anxiety and is working hard to overcome it. He now goes into his crate and settles right down. Rex needs a family with children over the age of 10 so the children can be pack leaders and Rex can follow. He is fearful of new people, but we are working on that with him. Rex needs a very structured home. His new family should understand that he needs exercise, rules, boundaries and limitations, and THEN Love!!! He loves to run and plays with his toys by himself. He is a happy dog and loves life! Rex has taken up roller blading and LOVES IT!! He goes roller blading (running) almost every day with his foster skin brother Daniel and has really gotten the hang of it.[more]

Age: 3 years
Gender: Female
Coloring: Flashy fawn
Weight: 42 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Ok (8+)
Contact: Patty L
FBR#: F10-003

Comments: Update 1/18/10: For 3 years Roxie was in a crate or on a chain while her owner worked 13 hours a day. She had little bonding or attention, no boundaries, little socialization, and no training. But her foster family has done wonders with her. Roxie is a tiny, petite little girl with the cutest little face you have ever seen on a full grown boxer. She stands about 18 inches at the shoulder, with a perfect litle boxer body. Although she is three, Roxie acts and plays like a one year old. She is learning boundaries, obeys and is bonded to her foster mother, likes people, LOVES her fur siblings and LOVES to play non-stop all day. At night she cuddles up in a recliner and sleeps in a crate next to the other two dogs. She gets along well with kids about 8 to 10 years or older, but she hasn't been around younger kids. [more]

Age: 7 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Brindle
Weight: 90 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Ok
Contact: Claire G
FBR#: F07-032ra

Comments: Update 2/1/10: Sarge is doing very well. He is a really good boy and low maintenance. He is happy hanging out at the house with his foster sisters, but he does enjoy his walks or going for a ride in the car. He gets along really well with his 2 foster sisters, but seems to lack confidence when meeting new dogs. He was a little apprehensive when he first met his foster sisters but settled right in, like he has been here his whole life. Sarge is completely potty trained and does not need to be in a crate. He has full run of the house and we have never had any issues with him on the furniture. We confirmed his age on his AKC papers - he is 7. Sarge is still very playful and loves to chase the light from a flashlight. He is learning some new commands and is walking very well on a leash. Sarge is really looking forward to finding his forever home. [more]

FBR#: F09-196

Comments: Update 1/22/10: I arrived at my foster parents' house from training on this past Sunday. I sat perfect in the car for the whole 2 hours and loved on my new skin parents, 14-year-old brother, 16-year-old sister and my 2-year-old Dogo Argentino and 8-year-old Lab fur sisters (not to mention the cats, hamster, frogs, turtles and fish). They said I had no attention span and needed lots of direction, but my foster mom set my rules and that was all it took. She says she has never seen such a gentleman. I walk perfectly on a heel while on my leash, sit and stay when asked and NEVER jump on anybody. I even know what 'easy' and 'wait' means. I am very respectful around all the kids in the neighborhood (haven't met any toddlers yet though) and sit while they pet me. I get excited and do my Boxer wiggle, but I'm really a pretty laid back guy.[more]
