This Web site is updated every day with new information about our dogs. Please do not email us or call our phone number to ask for 'more information' about dogs that interest you. Whatever we know about the dog is posted here. We receive about 20 - 50 emails and calls every day. It's impossible for our volunteers to work, take care of the Boxers AND answer all general inquiries that come in. You must be an approved applicant to visit a dog or contact a foster home. This is for the safety of our dogs and foster families. Click here to learn more about the adoption process.

April
Age: 1 year
Gender: Female
Coloring: Flashy fawn
Weight:
Dogs: Unknown
Cats: No
Kids: Unknown
Contact: Sam
FBR#: F10-139

Comments: 8/5/10: This poor, sweet girl has had a rough time. April is a bit shy, but once she knows you are not going to hurt her, she is a sweetheart. The vet even commented on what a nice dog she is! More to come as we get to know her better.

Baby Blue

Age: 8 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Brindle
Weight: 50 pounds
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Yes
Kids: Yes
Contact: Paulette
FBR#: F10-159

Comments: 8/27/10: This handsome boy was rescued by FBR when his family could not care for him any more. Baby Blue has the shiniest brindle coat and gives the sweetest kisses. He gets along well with the female boxer in his foster home.

More info when we get to know him better.

BeBe

Age: 6 years
Gender: Female
Coloring: Flashy fawn
Weight: 50 pounds
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Unknown
Contact: Kelly B
FBR#: F10-143

Comments: 8/13/10: BeBe was pulled from a shelter and had several medical issues. Besides having heartworms, whipworms and hookworms, she also had lung flukes!! This poor girl was a mess. BeBe has been dewormed and spayed and now is doing well in her foster home. BeBe is a calm, quiet girl who just wants to snuggle with her foster mom. She is living with a male boxer/dane mix, who until just now, started to initiate some play with him, but not much.
She is content to hang out with Scooby, but would much rather put her head in her foster mom's lap and take a siesta.

BeBe is a good girl when left alone in the house, but is very shy when taken outside for walks. She would much rather be inside and would not be the girl for dog parks or long walks. BeBe has to start her heartworm treatment so won't be available until mid September.

Comments: Update 6/1/10: About six weeks ago I had surgery on my left hip. The doctor said I had either had a bad accident or I was severely abused. The surgery I had is called an FHO. http://www.2ndchance.info/hipsurgery.htm They removed part of my femur bone. This will stop my pain and allow me to use the leg. I may walk and run a little funny, but I will be fine. I am doing great but the vet says it may take six months for me to fully heal. [more]

Bongo

Age: 7 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: White
Weight:
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Yes
Kids: Yes
Contact: Veronica J
FBR#: F10-095

Comments: Update 6/20/10: Bongo is settling into his foster home just fine! As you can see, he's a long-legged boy that really enjoys an after breakfast nap! And rope toys. Him and Petey the min-pin became fast friends and now neither one will go outside without the other. Bongo's favorite trick is High-5. As soon as he see's you reaching for the treats, or making breakfast and dinner, his right paw goes right up, sooo adorable! He's not a jumper, and he knows to stay back when coming in and out of the house, letting the leader [human] go first. He's crated 8 hours a day and is house-trained. He doesn't give kisses, but does give lots of hugs! Want a hug??? If so, ask about Bongo.

5/27/10: Bongo is a sweet, handsome, mature, gentleman. [more]

Brae

Age: 4-5 years
Gender: Female
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 60 pounds
Dogs: Unknown
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Yes
Contact: Amanda P
FBR#: F10-130

Comments: Update 8/17/10: Brae has settled into her new life after Animal Control perfectly! She's extremely sweet, gentle and affectionate, and she absolutely adores kids. She does very well with dogs in the house and she's always eager to introduce herself to anyone and everyone she meets, though we're not sure how she feels about cats. Brae has a lot of energy and LOVES to play - especially with the frisbee or tennis ball - though she's perfectly happy to curl up at your feet for a relaxing afternoon indoors. She's crate trained...though she doesn't especially love it, she understands and is more than eager to greet you when you come home.

Brae has a brilliant, positively upbeat spirit and extraordinary demeanor. More to come as we learn more about this sweetheart. [more]

Brewster II             I need a foster home!
Age: 8 months
Gender: Male
Coloring: Fawn
Weight:
Dogs: Unknown
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Unknown
Contact: Janet G
FBR#: F10-166

Comments: 8/30/10: Brewster is your typical boxer. He loves to run, run, run, and play, play and then play some more. His family gave him up because they are working long hours. Brewster is a sweet boy who needs some training and a huge yard to run in to burn off that energy.

Brewster knows sit, give paw, and kisses. He is housetrained
and crate trained. Unfortunately, Brewster has spent many hours in a crate. He is ready for a loving forever home...and more play!

Age: 8-10 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 60 pounds
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Yes
Kids: Yes
Contact: Patty L
FBR#: F10-092

Comments: Update 6/11/10: Hi, Brutus here. I'm really enjoying my foster home where I immediately got along with my foster fur sister and two foster skin teens. Even the cat isn't bad now that he trusts me. My foster parents say that I am a smart boy because I sit, stay, and lay down on command and walk on the leash. I don't try to get on the furniture and I put myself to bed in my crate when I'm tired. My foster mom giggles about how cute I am when I sleep because my tongue hangs out.

During the holiday my foster family had a bunch of people over for some food they cooked outside and there were little kids everywhere. They loved playing with me and hugging me. I was really nice and gentle with all of them and I even let them keep their food. The grown-ups were very impressed. [more]

Comments: 8/27/10: Cali is a while Boxer girl with hearing. She is very sweet and looooves people. She greets everyone she meets with lots of Boxer kisses, nub wags and butt wiggles. She is in boarding right now and will be spayed once she is out of heat.

Champ

Age: 6 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 65 pounds
Dogs: Yes
Cats: No
Kids: Unknown
Contact: Angie
FBR#: OS10-012

Important Information - Please Read

Comments: 8/23/10: Champ needs an experienced Boxer home who can work with him on exercise and socialization. He gets very excited when meeting new people or seeing other dogs. Most other dogs take this the wrong way. In fact, Champ lives with a Shitzu who is the boss, and Champ has lived with Beagles in the past, so time and patience will get this boy in the right frame of mind to fit in most households. He hasn't been around kids and would probably knock little ones over with his excitement. Champ is already housetrained and can be left in the house without being crated. He's just waiting to find that person willing to teach him the proper way to meet new people and dogs. Please, if you have room in your home and heart for a "Pet Project" Champ is your boy. I know he'll reward you with lots of slurps and snuggles.

Chevelle

Age: 4 years
Gender: Female
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 55 pounds
Dogs: Yes
Cats: No

FBR#: F10-126

Comments: Update 7/23/10: Chevelle has blossomed in her foster home. She was nervous around her two Boxer brothers at first but is now playing and loving on them. She loves people and giving kisses too. Do you think you have room for a sweet, smooshy-face girl like her?

7/12/10: Chevelle is a sweet but shy girl that will need to have a cyst removed from her back before she is available. More to come as we get to know her!

Cooper's Homeward Bound             I need a foster home!

Age: 2-3 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Flashy brindle
Weight: 60 pounds
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Yes
Kids: Yes *
Contact: Janet
FBR#: F10-153

Comments: 8/23/10: My name is Cooper and my world was shattered today. I was found as a stray and this loving family took care of me until today. But they couldn't take care of me any longer. So please, can you give me a loving home like the one I was just in? I do need some training with leash walking, but I am housebroken. I love cats - can you believe that - I love cats. I get along with other dogs as long as we are properly introduced.

I'll be ready in two weeks providing I don't have heartworms.

* I've been around older children, but I might accidently knock a little one over. Don't mean to!

Daisy Duke
Age: 2 years
Gender: Female
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 38 pounds
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Unknown
Kids: No
Contact: Kelly
FBR#: F10-076ra

Comments: Update 7/23/10: Daisy is back with FBR and is more than ready for her new forever home.

Update 6/11/10: Daisy is ready for her forever family to come and find her. She needs to be with other dogs, but no kids. She needs a firm leader, but is a sweet wiggley girl that has great manners. She's also housebroken and all that other good stuff!

4/20/10: Daisy is a lovable girl that likes other dogs but would do best in a home with no small children. She is housebroken, crate trained and up-to-date on her vetting. Daisy is getting over kennel cough and is ready for her new home. More to come from the foster home.

Duchess (Junebug)

Age: 7 years
Gender: Female
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 55 pounds
Dogs: No
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Unknown
Contact: Veronica
FBR#: F08-011ra

Comments: 8/18/10: This girl is an amazing dog. In 2008, she was rescued from a puppymill where her sole purpose was to produce puppies. She came to FBR pregnant, but because she was so sick, not one puppy from her last litter survived. Then it seemed things were looking up when she was adopted. Unfortunately, those people that promised to love her forever broke their promise and now Duchess is back with FBR and looking for her true forever home. Even after all she has been through, she has boxer kisses for everyone and the fastest nub on the west coast! It's probably best that she be the only dog so that she can be doted on as she deserves.

General

Age: 7 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Brindle
Weight: 63 pounds
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Unknown
Contact: Iris S
FBR#: F10-118

Comments: Update 7/4/10: General is one of the most gentle and well behaved gentleman that I have ever seen. He does not bark or make any sort of noise, he does not jump up on people or try to get on the furniture, he does not chew on anything he is not supposed to. He takes food gently when it is handed to him; however, he is likened to a Hoover vacuum since he will eat any food that has been placed in his bowl and any other bowl on the ground left sitting there. He is also potty trained and has yet to have an accident inside the house even when he is left for a long period of time.

Due to his easy going nature, he has fit into my household of both female and male dogs without any issue at all. [more]

Hannah

Age: 2 years
Gender: Female
Coloring: White
Weight: 50 pounds
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Yes
Contact: Amanda P
FBR#: F10-149

Comments: 8/19/10: Hannah is turning out to be a wonderful little girl. She is completely potty trained and now loves her crate. She also loves her baths and all people, especially children. She is super smart and learns very quickly. Hannah is heartworm positive, but needs to be spayed before she can start treatment. She'll make a wonderful family dog. Hannah is a little on the dominant side so will need continued training and a strong pack leader. More to come as Hannah is treated for heartworms.

Hercules

Age: 8 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 65 pounds
Dogs: Ok
Cats: Ok
Kids: Unknown
Contact: Bill G
FBR#: F09-187

Check out Hercule's blog here

Comments: Update 7/14/10: Hercules is doing well in his foster home. When his skin family is home he is relaxed and loves to nap. Every afternoon he enjoys playing with his two female boxer friends in the fenced back yard. Without his humans close, Hercules often becomes anxious. He is not an in-your-lap boxer, but he does need to live in a home where a human is home most, if not all of the time.

Update 2/22/10: Hey everyone! Hercules here! Thought I'd update you on how I'm doing. It's been a rough past few months, but I'm finally settling into a routine, which I very much need. [more]

Hurley
Age: 4 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: Flashy brindle
Weight: 45 pounds
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Yes
Kids: Unknown
Contact: Marilynette
FBR#: F10-158

Comments: 8/27/10: If you've ever met a dog that was just happy with the world (in spite of being neutered the day before), Hurley is that dog. He was found as a stray and we know very little about him at this time. His temperament is gentle, no leash pulling, slightly inquisitive about his new digs, but he was extremely happy with his new fish! More to come as the foster home gets to know this sweet boy.

Ingo

Age: 1 year
Gender: Male
Coloring: White
Weight: 70 pounds
Dogs: Yes
Cats: No
Kids: Yes*
Contact: Iris S
FBR#: F10-059

Comments: Update 4/30/10: Ingo was neutered and handled it like a champ! He is now feeling much better, and guess what? His foster Mom has discovered that Ingo CAN hear! Yay!! Ingo had a terrible ear infection when he was brought in, so that may have been a part of the problem with his hearing, but he hears just fine now. This is such great news for Ingo! On a different note, Ingo has now decided that the cat looks like a super cool toy to play with, and has taken great joy in chasing him all over the house. It is safe to say that Ingo should not be placed in a home with cats. Ingo has a clean bill of health and is looking for a loving, wonderful home that will work with him on his manners and help him to be the best Ingo he can be! [more]

*Older children only...Ingo is just too big and playful for small children.

Comments: 8/30/10: Joey is a beautiful neutered male who will celebrate his first birthday on Sept 3rd. He is housebroken and walks well on a leash. Joey is crate trained and extremely friendly! He is very strong and needs an active family. He will do well with another dog if the dog is willing to play, play, play. Joey has the biggest smile I have ever seen!

Dogs: Yes
Cats: Yes
Kids: Yes*
Contact: Iris S
FBR#: F10-124

Comments: Update 8/9/10: Joseph, or Joe as we call him, is a sweet, sweet pooch. He knows the commands for sit, paw, and lay down. He knows to do his business outside. Joe is also quite a talker, and he gives the cutest toothy boxer slurps. He loves to go for walks and enjoys quiet moments laying in the sun. But Joe's most favorite thing is to be with his people, whether snuggling and watching TV or curling up for a nice nap.

7/6/10: Joseph is a sweet old boy who loves everyone and will meet you with lots of wiggles and kisses. We recommend older children with this boy as he needs respect for his older age. There are updates coming as Joseph will be vetted this week.

Comments: Update 3/22/10: Hi everyone! It's been a while, so let's catch up: I still have good days and bad days with my arthritis, but that's ok because I still have lots of fun!! My foster mom takes me everywhere because I'm a well-behaved, calm girl. She and her girlfriends still love playing cards and having lunch... and I'm always there for both. I also hang out with the gray Persian cat when we're visiting; I guess he's OK if you're into all that fluff!! I am still looking for my forever home, so if you want an easy-going girl like me, send in your application soon.

Update 12/25/09: Hi! My name is Kansas...on a rainy day, two weeks ago, I came to my new foster home.[more]

Longoria

Age: 2-4 years
Gender: Male
Coloring: White
Weight: 67 pounds
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Unknown
Kids: No
Contact: Sandy
FBR#: F10-083

Comments: 5/9/10: My name is Longoria, like the infielder of the Rays. I am a non-hearing dog who needs to be with another dog to learn from. I get along with small and large dogs as long as they aren't hyper. I am a very active boy - house broken and crate trained. I'm a sweet boy who just needs some direction. Leash manners 101 would be good for me. Sing Language 102 - as I have no clue how to sit, stay, down, etc. I would do better with older children in their teens. See, us non-hearing dogs get startled very easily and may scare a small child. I don't mean to do that, nor do my fellow non-hearing boxers!

I would love to come and play at your house if you let me. Come check me out

Comments: 8/27/10: Maggie May is a sweet and gentle girl who loves to give kisses and put her head in your lap. She is a little scared right now, but warms up quickly. Comments: Update 4/16/10: Hi everyone! Check out the latest picture of me, Miles! It's the picture on the top!

1/22/10: Hello everyone! It's been a while since I last updated you on how I'm doing in my new foster home. After a few trips to the vet and the support of FBR, I'm feeling great! I have what's called diabetes insipidus. It sounds scarier than it is, I promise. Basically, I don't produce enough of a hormone so I'm always thirsty, which makes me have to go potty a lot. So, the doctors gave my foster mom medicine to put in my eye, which helps me not be so thirsty or have to go potty as much. [more]

Coloring: Fawn
Weight: 51 pounds

Contact: Laura S
FBR#: F10-128

Comments: Update 8/8/10: Murphy is a wonderful girl. She has never had an accident in the house nor has she chewed or destroyed anything. She stays lose in the house all day - no crate needed. Murphy needs an energetic family that will spend time with her and play, as she loves to play. She is fine with other dogs and the neighbor behind the foster family has 8 cats and she is not interested.

Murphy's in great health and very loving!

7/12/10: Hi, I'm Murphy! I've been told I'm a beautiful mahoghany girl that is in great shape! My muscle-toned body is sleek and shiny and my tail is strong, so when I wag it... well, I need to be around older kids so I won't accidently hurt them. I can't help my excitement at being out of traffic. I have good manners in my temporary home. I just wish I had my own place to be loved in forever.

We are unsure of cats or dogs but do suggest older kids because of her tail. More info to come from foster home.

Sarge is a really good boy who came back into rescue when his family fell on hard times. He enjoys hanging out at the house and going for walks or a ride in the car. Sarge is housetrained, very trustworthy and has full run of the house. Sarge is at that great age where he is very playful yet laid back. This handsome boy is wonderful with kids and a favorite game is to chase the light from a flashlight. Sarge is great on the leash, can speak and will even sing to you when he is happy. [more]

She also likes snuggling with her foster mom in bed. She pulls some on her leash but corrects very quickly.

Sasha's previous owner kept her crated up to 20 hours a day, so now she is gaining muscle mass in her back legs and is doing fine.

Sasha would do well with another dog to play with in her new home.

Comments: 8/20/10: Hi everyone, I'm Teddy! The nice FBR lady who picked me up from the shelter gave me that name because I reminded her of a teddy bear - soft, cuddly and sweet! I'm a happy boy who wiggles all over and my natural tail constantly wags. I slept most of the way on my ride to Four Paws in Lakeland. You see, I don't have a foster home but I'm hoping for one real soon! They treat me wonderful here, and even gave me a bath when I arrived so I'd feel better all fresh and clean. When I came in I met the Boxer matriarch who welcomes all new arrivals and I was quite the gentleman. BTW...I already know sit and down, and I don't pull hard on the leash; how about that!

I have those nasty heartworms so will need to go through treatment before I'll be ready for a new home. Check back soon for updates!

Comments: Update 7/1/10: Tessa was starting her heartworm treatment and a mass was found on her chest. The mass was removed but this has delayed Tessa starting her heartworm treatment.
Tessa will be available for adoption possibly in mid august.

6/7/10: Tessa just arrived in her foster home and is a little scared right now. She will need to go through heartworm treatment and put some weight on. There will be more to come about this sweet baby as we get to know this special girl.

Comments: Update 8/27/10: Tia here! Wow, I am glad to be rid of those yucky heartworms!! And I feel just great now.

Running and jumping and just snuggling with my foster parents... that's how I spend my days. My foster parents also have been teaching me things like sit, down and stop. But I taught them how to catch a tennis ball. They also want you to know that I am getting better at leash manners.

Please open up your heart and let me snuggle with you. I am soooooo ready for my new family. And I will give you lots of sweet kisses too.

Comments: 8/30/10: Tiger is a handsome, sweet boy who loves to play with other dogs, is wonderful with kids and has a super-sweet disposition. He walks well on a leash, and he listens and knows basic commands. More to follow from his foster home when they get to know him.

Comments: 8/27/10: Trixie was brought in with Maggie May. She is very shy and scared right now, but warms up and loves to be made over and loved on. Both girls were surrendered with severe cases of mange which the vet feels will clear up after being spayed and with time and TLC. I know it's difficult to see right now, but she has beautiful fawn coloring with a black mask. More to come as she comes out of her shell.

Comments: Update 8/23/10: Unfortunately, Tyson has heartworms and will need to go through treatment.

8/11/10: Tyson is a very sweet and handsome brindle boy. He rode very well in the car while providing me with lots of Boxer kisses during the drive to the vet's office. He was happy to meet the other dogs and the kittens in the waiting room, but was a gentlman and greeted them all in a calm manner. More to come as we get to know him better.

Comments: 5/27/10: Upton came to us via another rescue. He was tied to a picnic table in someones backyard and abanonded. He is very sweet and just wiggles his little nub when someone comes in to see him. He is being vetted at the moment and FBR is making sure he gets what he needs. He got along great with the small dogs in the other rescue. Upton loves everybody - especially men - but whoever pays attention to him becomes his new best friend.

Upton is my name and I like hanging with the guys in the dugout! My closest friends call me BJ but I am not used to either of those name yet. Can you guess who I am? I can't wait to be adopted and be in a forever home, but for now I do need a foster home to hang out in while I put on some weight.

Comments: Update 8/24/10:
Xander is the most adaptable dog I've ever known. He's content to be warm, loved, fed, and safe. He came to our home, a 'broken' man emotionally and physically, with cloudy eyes and obvious fears of hunger, thirst, abandonment and pain. It is always amazing to me how quickly a dog will trust again, given the space, patience, and time. There is now a very clear sparkle in those once cloudy eyes, such a thrill to see. I could go on and on, but it's best I let him fill you in.

Oh boy! Oh boy! Oh Boy! I'm still inside the house, amazing! Come sit over here by me and I'll tell you about a few interesting findings. Here I have a brother boxer that is so swell, he protects me and I follow him everywhere. [more]
