.................................................Foster Buddies

Volunteering with Florida Boxer Rescue is often a family affair. Children attend events with their parents, frequently with a Boxer in tow. Many of our foster parents also have children who are involved in the care and attention that is so badly needed by our dogs. Sometimes the dog will gravitate toward the child and a special bond is formed between dog and "junior foster parent". It's often incredible to see.

Volunteering with Florida Boxer Rescue is educational for all of us but especially for the children. They learn the responsibility of pet guardianship. They also are witness to the reality of consequences when pets are not properly cared for.

It is important to teach by example. Teaching children the value of volunteering one's time, energy, and heart is a positive step for our future.

Meet some of our young volunteers here and get to know one of the most special areas of Florida Boxer Rescue.

"Hi my name is James, I'm going to be 10 on July 28th and I am a foster brother. This is my newest family member his name is Albert, we call him Buddy. We are not in school right now so we get to spend a lot of time together. When I'm not playing at the beach with my friends, I help my mom take care of all the animals(four dogs and 2 cats). It's a lot of work being a foster brother to these Boxers. They get a lot of special treatment because they don't have loving homes of their own. Albert came into foster care because he was a stray. He gets to eat three times a day, mom says he needs some meat on his bones. Albert is such a great dog. He loves to play with the hose when I wash down the patio because of all the foot prints. He also loves to chase a ball. He gets along well with his canine sisters and brothers and he is a good boy in the house. He hasn't had any accidents. He is also crate trained but he would rather stay out. He is a very big boy, 63 pounds and underweight.

Things are going to get busy again pretty soon because school starts in August. When I'm not helping with the dogs I go to the beach and surf. I am also really into baseball and soccer. Albert loves to chase the soccer ball. I'm going to miss Albert when he goes to his forever home but I'm glad we can do this for the Boxers ( we also have Bella ) because its important to take care of our pets.

I love to be a foster brother. It makes me feel good to help these wonderful dogs. Hope to hear from y'all soon."

James
